Yes, they seem to be moving it around the site, the reviews are back now too.
I only see one review and get nothing if clicking for more.

Says there are 9 questions but only first five listed and clicking on see all or a question return blank pages too.

I wonder if Samsung have answered any of the questions?

Someone has given a good review.

http://www.latestgadgets.co.uk/home-...800-freesat-hd

They also think it is wi-fi enabled which it is not.

Automan.
The reviewer admits to not being technically minded and seems to have only really tested the + functionality of pause and rewind live tv. The rest seems to be a precis of the publicity material.

Perhaps the same guy that coded their website wrote the software on this box?

This is surely a review by someone who's just seen the video! It really could be any freesat or freeview+ or even Sky box by their review...

I think you are right. In this case it's lucky for them that all the reviews and questions are NOT shown eh...

For the first time ever I watched the promo video for this product from the Samsung website.

I notice it was shot on the 2nd March this year and one piece at 10:03 shows the recorded items in the library.

This lists several films from chn4 and film4 so I guess either it had different firmware, they recorded one at a time or chn4 has changed their freesat epg since then.

One movie recording however is only 57 seconds long.

Me too - just spoken to someone at Freesat who says Samsung are very aware and Freesat have had a huge number of calls and emails. Managers are discussing, but there is no update beyond that...

I am very heartened to hear that things are moving forward and I look forward to a formal statement from Samsung confirming when a fix will be released.

Are you waiting for a formal statement of next weeks lottery numbers as well?

You can't predict when a fix will be ready, unless it's already ready and you're holding it back for some reason.

It would be a nice gesture to confirm at least that they are working on something. They have our money. I don't think anyone expects miracles. Especially if you've ever had sky!

One might think to get the "Freesat+" label on the product that the FreeSat organisation would have to approve and test the product?

When I spoke to their call centre they did say they has an element of responsibiity. Maybe just not to test though.

Time for another bug.

When playing back a recording press info and have a look at the time bar times.

The recording starts at 1 hour rather than 0. The end time is also +1hr

As yet another test I set the unit to record a channel then another timer for later.

Watched a third channel to see what it does when it approaches the recording time.

Well, it gives no warning and just changes channel to the first one recording.

In playback mode these values show current playback time / recording length.

If Vestel are responsible for the manufacture, I would expect they would have been contracted to code the software as well, with functional and visual direction from Samsung.
This would explain the despicable operation, which would otherwise not have got through to distribution.
I have however jumped ship and returned the item from whence it came. The Curry's employee was very helpful and apologetic when I gave him a resume of the reported faults.
I have in replacement ordered the FoxsatHDR.

This morning my single recordings are still scheduled to be recorded.

I have just been watching parts of "The Matrix" recorded from ITV 1 HD. No sound glitches (unlike on BBC HD) but recording ends during end credits.

Also for some reason the unit made a 29 second recording from ITV1+1 during "The Matrix" just at the point the Oracle first meets Neil.

Had a couple more recordings with end cut off and "Starky's & Hutch" had the front cut off

I have a theory that the unit sees the start signal but then stops recording at the scheduled time.

Thus if a program starts late on say ITV4, the unit will start recording at the precise moment but stop recording early.

This should be easy to check.

Just in case we get an upgrade these are my units firmware details.

Product ID: SMT S7800
Firmware: 0.39/1.43
Software Version: 001.000.0256
Last SW update: ----/--/--

Last night I also set-up my Harmony control.
No match on the database of course but it finds a close match which is a Samsung Satellite box.

All buttons have to be learned and one extra button "Tools"

When put into an activity is is not under PVR but Sat boxes (different icon) but it works.

Check the key assignment are correct.

The only function that has not worked is the power toggle. I will try and re-learn that later.

Automan - which harmony do you have? I haven't worked out if there's any way to punch through the volume to the TV - which I know is minor in the whole scheme of things, but controlling the STBs volume and not the TV seems wrong... and a pain to press TV then STB buttons every time. Does it have enough buttons to do the job?

All Harmony remotes use an activity based algorithm. You basically add as many devices as you have to the remote using the Logitech website. You then set up activities based on these devices. In your case you simply tell the activity to use the TV or AV amplifier as the device to be used for the volume control.

Example to work with my Foxsat-hdr the activity has 3 devices.

My TV, the HDR itself and the AV amp.

Pressing the button to watch the hdr switches on all three devices, the AV amplifier selects the appropriate input for hdr sound, the tv selects the appropriate hdmi input.

OK cool - we sell them and have them in stock so I'll grab one. Have a very basic set up - just TV and STB (well as well as old Freeview DVD too but never used), so the standard remote would be great if it wasn't for that one issue. Saying that it's not a fantastic remote, Sky one feels so much more solid.
