Talking of remote - has anyone managed to get (or find out) how to get the volume control to operate TV only - even when in STB mode? I.e. punch through...

On the front it says "GL59-00117A" (below subtitle button) and on the battery cover stamped in ink "110226"
Thanks for this.

The remote here also says "GL59-00117A" on the front, but the number stamped on the battery cover is "101210".

My guess would be that this is yymmdd. And that I have an old one that doesn't work. Grrrr.

Hello! Just noticed that some recent posts have been removed from this thread, mostly about the announcement for the forthcoming update, whats up with that?
The information about the forthcoming updates has also been removed from the "joinfreesat" site also.

Looks like it's not going to happen for whatever reason, probably worked out the job was bigger than expected and the timescale was too short to fix the vast amount of problems this unit has. If the update does not appear on the 22nd then that will be it for me, the box is standing by.

Looks like the samsungfreesat bug list has been removed too. Some wholesale censorship going on here, how long before this entire thread goes the same way?

I've just had a call from the Samsung guy dealing with my query on the remote, and they are sending me a new one, which is refreshing.

While he was on the phone I told him I'd heard rumours that the update was being delayed and asked what the situation was. He told me that as far as he knew from the engineers, the update on April 22 was going ahead as planned.

Just been looking at my list of recordings and I note it has been making some 1 and 2 second long recordings.

These seem to be when recording stops but as they have no detailed information e.g. time, it is tricky to tell.

Just watching a recording made on BBC2 NI.

Before I got this box I had never watched BBC NI TV

I see some have reported that the guide can take 30 minutes to populate after bringing the box out of standby.

My one seems okay, is this still an issue?

Trying my box this morning and just watching BBC2 News chn 200

Checking library timers, all my non series link ones have vanished (perhaps only hidden) and guide data has big time holes in it e.g. 17:30 sun for channels starting with 10 are blank.
24+ is ok, another 24hrs is blank, +24hrs is ok, +24hrs ok as is to the end of the week.

BTW, in guide view if you press 1 it just list channels starting with 1 then press 30 to list channels starting with 30. Press 0 to list all channels.

I was wondering if you are watching a channel that has a bad trickle or no EPG data would that cause the above holes?

I will change now to 101 to see if my timers re-appear (19 items at present).

Answer, no

More EPG data but 104 and 105 are blank Sunday and the reverse for Tuesday which only has 104 & 105. The rest of the week is complete.

Still have 19 timers

Now to try 105

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n...4-16085202.jpg

No better, and no timers for this afternoons movies on 105

However the timer count has gone from 19 to 22 so some more matches for future events have been found but no single recordings

Anybody tried using media streamed over the network from a Win7 WMP12 PC ? I got mine setup ok and pictures/music/video seems to play nicely, but there is a problem. For example, if I go to media and then browse to pictures - network - folders and select any of the folders I can only see the first 52 photos (should be much more). This happents on all the folders with more than 50 photos. I also cannot see all my music.
Tried this from another PC connected to the same network and I can see everything shared throught WMP12, so I am confident the problem is not on the streaming PC setup. Anybody else having this problem ?
Cheers

Just tried it with music via my asset UPNP server and it seems to limit everything to the first 100.

1st 100 under composer names starting with B
1st 100 tracks by an artist

CHN4 HD seems to have a problem as it has no program guide data. CHN 126 BTW.

Tried a freesat scan but still no complete data for 126.

Also see image below for example of multiple 1 second recordings (five in this example) the unit sometimes makes when a program ends. Happens on various channels BTW.

It Good that the C4HD 7 days Guide works with the new Samsung SMT-S7800 Freesat+ box, at last took it time to bring the data in.

Got full channel guide data up until midnight on Wed 27 April (just over 7 days).
But yesterday (Tues) I only had about 2 hours of data all day, but this morning it had the full week of data, and I have just check it again now and it is the same as this morning. So you might need to give this box some time to get the full data. Just hope none of you have to wait too long.

I don't know why it has taken this long to get the full week data for C4HD, but it should have done it the first time on the EPG.

I am still not getting any EPG.

Perhaps only a handful of channels are carrying the new data for CHN4 HD and thus if you are not on one of those channels you get next to no data.

Some progress, unit has a support page at Samsung including the user manual!

Not tried, but I would guess in Non Freesat mode if and when we get an option for a manual timer.

This Friday is of course is update day but I think it is also some kind of holiday?

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I did just try pressing the record button whilst watching the stream but it just recorded the BBC channel I was on previous to pressing red.

I see when this product gained a support page it also lost all user comments be they good or bad!

Can't think why?

EDIT: I have submitted a new review.

I'm a little confused. Page 44 in the User Manual states "The External HDD device is not supported". However, on Page 45 it says "You can play contents from an HDD" (presumably this isn't referring to the internal drive). I think someone in this thread suggested that only a pen drive will work, but it doesn't seem to be clear from the wording in the manual.

Hi bramble,
I believe that statement refers to playing media from the internal HDD which you have put on from a USB stick. It certainly did not recognize the external drive I tried which was formatted in fat32.

I have returned my unit to Currys so I cannot do any further tests. I wonder if the software upgrade will actually be available on friday ?, and if so will it work ?

No new software on their site

I must admit I am surprised Samsung published my new review and it looks like their website code has been fixed as you can now see the complete item (up to the size it would let me post).

Good on Samsung for not withholding / censoring customer negative product feedback.
