That's it? You can't control TV volume?
It does it - just a pain to remember to press "TV" then do the volume, then press "STB" to get back to PVR functions.

Would be so much better if you could just tell it to always control TV volume (or AMP) etc. like a sky box does.

Have the TV volume set high now and control from the STB volume, but the trouble is when the TV comes on before the STB has booted, goes onto freeview on TV VERY loud and wakes everyone up!

Another bug I think:

Have 2 recordings for tonight at 9pm. Tried to record a 3rd on BBC HD at 10.30pm (this is also being shown at 9pm on BBC2)

Clash warning is incorrectly shown showing 2 programs 9pm-10pm.

I guess it is looking at the "linked" BBC2 time and not the BBC HD time I actually want to record.

Sorry you must be mistaken. Didn't you know Samsung fixed all known and unknown bugs with their last update? There is obviously something wrong with your box and your box alone. Please call the service centre to rectify this situation.

I have a Series link for Dad's Army.

BBC2 Wales has one on Sunday as well as the normal Saturday showing so it has decided to record it also.

Still not heard back from Curry's re getting my money back...

EDIT:

I see my 8th May review has been posted on their website where I gave it a whole 2 stars

You probably won't, I had a hell of a time trying to get mine back too and after only 9 days of ownership, if bought online you can return for a full refund for any reason whatsoever by law within 28 days. I was pushed from pillar to post between Samsung (who cut me off several times) and back to Currys who initially refused to refund until I was put through to the Tech Guys and they eventually gave a returns auth code. I took the unit back to my nearest branch with auth code in hand and they did it in store, but not before trying to give me another in exchange first

At last I have an response online saying that they have passed my queries on to technical support, and not to just bring it back to the man with the big screwdriver...

I wonder if they even have access to a Astra dish in their service centres?

I once had a Philips CD-I machine which did not work with the video module.

Dixons took it back to test and then returned it saying they had no media to test it with

Finally got an email from Curry's re a refund.

It asks me to call 0844 561 1234

they will be more than happy to discuss the issue and book the product in for repair
I am not about to pay out any more cash on this product calling 0844 numbers just to listen to more recorded messages, etc.

No, if I have time next week I may just take it to the nearest one - 15 miles away....

How is your one working?

It still loses single programs from the schedule when it is in standby. The other problems don't really effect me. Not too sure whether to keep it or not, in the vain hope Samsung fix the box.

Either loosing a single timer or not putting onto standby and then getting loads of 1 second recordings is main issue I agree.

Although more I use not being able to get to the guide while in play mode is a pain. Wanted to record something last night from live pause but it wouldn't let me because of a clash but couldn't get to the guide to modify clashes. It also auto
Automatically recorded another showing in the future so then popped up the already recording message. Why should the box decide to not let me record something twice anyway?

So far not too much lost on ends of programmes. But would like it to play media files without sound sync or sound breakup issues. Seems mainly non 50i content. although wouldn't notice lip sync I suppose on cartoons!

Also noticed it struggling when say recording 2 programs and playing one esp if in HD. Even the icons seem slow to do their twizzles!

I want to keep as it just has more long term promise than the humax I think. Maybe a bad move.

For you to think that the Samsung has more long term promise than Humax is exceedingly optimistic.
The 2nd generation Humax HDR is due out later this year and apparently will be the most advanced PVR yet.
Humax may have little niggles but they would never have released equipment in the abyssmal state that Samsung have done

I wasn't aware Humax had announced they are releasing a new PVR?

That is because they haven't. Lots of rumours and FUD. Of course you can expect they will announce a new PVR at some point.

It has been widely reported that Humax are developing a 2nd generation PVR
.There has been a delay as they are waiting new specifications from Freesat.Humax,Panasonic and others are currently working closely with You View to incorporate
You View into the boxes. The anticipated launch is now expected early next year.
This is not a rumour. If you visit the Humax UK website you will find a link to You View where you can read about it yourself!!

I think the current You View spec only is for the Freeview platform which should at least be available to most by the time they actually get a product on sale.

Indeed, I suspect Humax and the others have their development teams working on the software / boxes for this platform possibly leaving Freesat development on the back burner.

That means nothing when it comes to Humax announcing a new PVR. And just this week one Youview partner has pulled out. As I said, all we have at the moment is rumour and speculation albeit backed by a reasonable assumption that their development team must be working on something as they sure as hell ain't too much tasked with fixing the bugs in their existing products.

My guess is that we will hear something around September 9th. http://www.ibc.org/page.cfm/Action=V...lendarID=1/t=m
Humax have announced products at this exhibition before.

I see today's online Telegraph says Sky has changed its mind and may join youview.

Still this won't fix our crappy Samsung freesat boxes

There isn't too much wrong with the Humax,it's problem isn't so much bugs as UI issues,The main bug was the power cut issue but the fix for this is downloadable and will be available OTA shortly. The Humax is the most reliable of the Freesat HDR's and I am certainly well pleased I didn't switch to Samsungs pitiful offering.

I didn't deliberately misquote you.

Still as you say" Products", which of their products do you consider to have Bug issues?
