In a 1 hour BBC 1 HD program I had one audio glitch after 51 minutes.

Looking pretty good so far but is not doing anything more than I would have expected when it first went on sale.

Seems to be behaving well so far following the update... not lost any single recordings in standby; no weird microprogrammes; recorded one 1hr programme correctly so far...

Can't provide any info yet on timing accuracy re programme start/end sensing.

Looks like this may finally be the box it should have been when I bought it - fingers crossed...

i always test how good a box is at recording by setting up 8-10 recordings during the night while im in bed and checking them the following morning. mind you i have never found a box yet that is 100% successful but my sky hd box came very close.

I've not lost one recording from my schedule and a movie I set to record has worked no problem. Also not had any one second recordings.

Checking today all seems okay and by my recordings from ITV3 it would seem like the Humax recording now stops at the start signal for the next program.

I have set it and the Humax to record the last program on CBBC today to see how well it handles a station that goes off air.

iPlayer seems much the same and I have yet to try YouTube (which it was reported did not save your login details).

Still no multitasking so during playback you still can't do anything but watch the recording.

In fact, it would seem they have spent the last seven weeks since the last release just fixing bugs.

Does "the Humax recording now stops at the start signal for the next program." mean that the Samsung cut a recording short, or that the Humax recorded slightly beyond the programme end?

Samsung got their priorities right then: "it would seem they have spent the last seven weeks since the last release just fixing bugs"?

Correct, during playback you cannot even access the list of your recordings you have made until you stop playback.

Samsung say it is a design feature so you don't press the wrong button on your remote and spoil your viewing

Login in gives you easy access to you uploads, favourites and subscriptions.

Youtube I see is also still only SD in picture quality

I will check later to see if it remembers I have logged in...

Lol, sounds like samsung want to be different to every other manufacturer with their product. Even my cheap Bush box can handle viewing the guide during playback.

New Bug!
While playing back a recording while it is being recorded when you press tools, fast rewind, skip etc the timeline shows all zeros...

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n...6-24171339.jpg

Also when I stop to play it again playback started from the start rather than offering to resume.

Pressing 'i' shows the recording bar correctly.

EDIT @ 17:45

New bug looks bad

Unit seems to still be recording Batman which finished over 45 minutes ago.

It will be interesting to see if it stops recording after "The Professionals"

Shows it is on ITV4 with the recording progress bar blank.

I have seen this sort of bug on Sky+ where the box will just keep recording and then starts to auto delete other recordings leaving you with one giant recording.

Quantum Leap has now started and the heap of xxx is still recording

It looks like Samsung has failed again

I also just tried to change channel which I thought would give me the option to stop recording but no!

"This service is not available while two recordings are in progress."

EDIT:
If I press Record I get this box

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n...6-24180654.jpg

Note the recording end time.

However it does not stop it

Could it be that the box didn't get a signal at the end of the program. The bush box of mine did this other day (mainly on less popular channels such as wedding tv). I spotted the box recording at a weird time, looked at the recording list and saw it had been going for nearly 2 days. This obviously caused some other recordings to fail cos there wernt enough tuners. It happened again so I set the box to add 3 mins at end of recordings instead of auto and it has been fine since. I think in my case the box was either missing the end of program signal or didn't get one from the broadcaster.

It could be but it also refused to stop recording...

It has now stopped recording after also recording "The Professionals" and "Quantum Leap"

Thus I have a really long Batman episode

No padding options exists with this product and of course because the tuner was busy it has failed to record two other programs.

You do not get a failed recording indicator.

It is if they were never planned.

EDIT:
Just checked on my Humax.
It recorded Batman correctly

It looks like you have been very much an unpaid Quality Inspector Automan for some months and I must imagine that this last straw breaks the camels back... We know of the problems that do arise on the Humax from time to time..and we cannot trust the broadcasters and their equipment to be anywhere near the precision level for a set with no padding.
I would not now buy one for half price unless one was able to virtually transfer all programme each day to an external USB drive like the Humax can..
I have a Sony TRV30 camcorder which cost over £1100 over 10 years ago. It was at the end of it's life cycle years ago.. but still used most weeks..Superb SD stills with optical zoom on slides at 1.5Megs..Video feed thru.. I cannot see anything at up to £1000 that has it's versatility.. yes it's weighty and scatched some..Your troubles have benefitted us all and if my Humax blew up tonight I'd order a refurbished 'A' tomorrow..
but i would still say after using the guide button daily for well over 1000 times.. that the new system conceals at least one major[to me] drop-off.

Yea, my bush box would refuse to stop recording. I had to turn it off at the mains in the end. So the humax is set to auto padding?

I was poised to order the samsung today but will hold off now. I've got a feeling this box is going to fail dramatically.

How many returned boxes do you think it would take for samsung to take this product seriously?

I've never had a problem like this, even before the latest patch?

No PVR is 100% reliable. My Humax failed to record Luther this week, whilst the Samsung recorded it no problem. Out of the two machines I Prefer the Samsung, it has a couple of quirks but then so does the Humax.

I imagine they introduced this bug correcting the "√ Resolved the issue of cutting short recordings." issue.

If it only happens once in a blue moon that will be okay.

If it happens every other day causing the disc to fill and other recordings to be missed then it is not.

Not been watching much today..

Anyway, this afternoon it was recording "Holiday On The Buses" from ITV1 HD and I played the first ten minutes or so while it was recording.

Tonight I went to watch the rest but no resume playback option was given so it started at the beginning - minor bug.

After about the third commercial break I used the normal skip x 4 but this time playback started as a series of still pictures.

Tried pause and play but that did not help but stop and play did - minor bug.

Then after a few minutes the screen saver cut in Pressed down arrow to get the picture back and it then did it again later.

Now playing another recording and it is still happening, in fact it has just done it again showing 21:21:04

How are the other two owners of this box getting on?

It seems to me samsung have been focusing on making their box look like the humax rather than work like it. Some of these issues you mention seem more like design failures than bugs.

They seriously need to get their act together though. People are not going to be buying their product unless they address basic issues that it has.

I don't think I can wait for the next update to see IF these issues automan is seeing will be fixed. We will probably not see anything until august at the earliest.

By the time this box is fully working, someone will probably have released a G2 spec STB!

How many chances are the current owners willing to give samsung?
