About the only reason I went for the Samsung was to get away from the long wait when you press guide with the Humax (on page 1 or 2 of this thread).

I don't know when or if the Samsung looks at the full epg from Eurobird.

I suppose it could do it when it boots from low power standby?

Does it cache the EPG on the hard drive? I don't know but I would suspect it would be better from flash memory or similar.

I also have a new bug (minor).

Twice now when I have saved a program that has already started it has saved it in a series link folder for the last series I was watching (I think).

Makes searching for your recordings such fun as it also does not indicate a sub folder contains an unwatched recording/s.

And the problem is, it takes samsung nearly 2 months to rectify a couple of bugs. Therefore your timescale for fixing this looks like end of august.

Indeed, after their first software release they were telling owners if you still had a problem it must be a hardware issue....

It will be interesting to see how long it takes them to admit the new release also is not perfect?

As I mentioned earlier, another new bug is that the clock is typically 14/15 seconds slow

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n...6-29101043.jpg

Watching LiveTV when you press 'i' however normally displays the correct time.

Box seems to be hanging for a few seconds here and there particularly on rewinds/fast forwards.... anyone else seen more of this since the update?

Other than that does seem ok on the bugs they've fixed other than the over-recording issue.

Now onto the next batch of fixes I hope for the niggles and usability issues...

Also I think they need to change the "early 2011" sticker for ITVplayer! not that it's their fault...

The box I would say is not the most responsive product on the market...

Just checking yesterdays recordings and I note it recorded both Batman episodes correctly.

No software change, so perhaps a change to the guide data or just a one off fluke?

(It got it wrong on Friday, Monday and Tuesday).

Very close....

If I did not already have a Humax as well so I can backup recordings the winner (if I wanted to save recordings) would be the Humax.

If I was just happy to watch recordings from the PVR's hard drive the Samsung would just win.

Better remote
More modern
Quicker access to guide

However access to recordings and checking planned timers is worse.

So it is mainly swings and roundabouts - no clear favourite IMHO.

I see this is in the guide for Saturday for Men and Women's.

However my Samsung one says the Men's one is already scheduled to be recorded, the same error that used to occur in the first release on the chn4 family of channels.

It lets me set the Women's one okay.

Hi Automan,
Could you check the crids on Humax stb for these programmes?
Does Humax allow to record both of them?

Humax lets me record both...
Men's fp.bbc.co.uk/7A377I
Women's fp.bbc.co.uk/7A377K

Samsung box recorded Batman again properly so I guess the folks at Samsung have got the ITV to change something in the guide data?

Will see how Family Guy records tonight...

Another small bug noted is in Library view is a lack of list refresh when you return to it from playing a recording.

I was watching the first Batman while the second one was recording.
On returning to Library the new episode was not listed till I return to folder top level and then entered the Batman folder again.

well, crids looks ok, so it is not the same as with the chn4 case (crids with blabla/000 pattern). I'll try to book it when I'll finally get home today...

Release Notes of SMT-S7800 Software V4.0.296
23rd June, 2011

√ Resolved the issue with missing timers for single recordings.

...........
Does the above mean you can now set timer recordings manually entering channel, day, start time, finish time etc? The phrasing is not clear to me.

Box has...
No manual timer option.
No option to set pre or post record times (padding).

Still I have not missed a program start or end yet since the latest update.

Last nights second Family Guy was 2hrs 20mins 1second long.

So I guess Samsung got the ITV to change something in their data but not the BBC?

I don't know if they are playing with the guide data but today after Batman working correctly for two days it has taken a turn for the worse

Instead of just the last episode getting stuck recording, today both are!

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n...7-01181103.jpg

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n...7-01181148.jpg

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n...7-01181159.jpg

Thus it has missed making two other recordings because both tuners are still busy.

One thing I have noticed so far is when I select a channel it says "cannot receive this programme. please check connection", not sure why but I have to go up a channel and back down again to get it to work.

Hello forum members
Has anybody tried to access the bbc iplayer on the smt s7800 through a wireless connection as per samsung web site info.
I contacted samsung and they told me that it doesn't support their dongle at the moment but the June /July update shall cure the problem. Still waiting patiently!!
Surely it should be added to the list of bugs.

I myself have not had any error messages when changing channel...

Are you getting a good signal on both LNB feeds? (press 'i' three times when watching LiveTV and then left/right arrow to check both tuners).

If the Wireless Dongle is as expensive as the ones for their TV it may be cheaper to get a pair of "HomePlug" type gadgets some of which now are £30.00 for a pair.

I've got 69% signal strength and 80% signal quality. I'm only using a single LNB at the moment.
I've noticed where I get the "cannot receive programme" message the channel will not record it. So if i go to the guide and select a channel to record if that channel comes up with this mesage it will show on the LIB as an error.

Interestingly if I manually enter a channel number it will nearly always produce the "cannot receive this programme error" but if I go through the channels using the up and down keys it seems to work.

Home plug could be an option but I'm a noob at this stuff

Another thing how the hell do you set up the remote to work with the TV? I tried holding in the TV button as per instructions but no LED flashed?
