I've got 69% signal strength and 80% signal quality. I'm only using a single LNB at the moment.
I've noticed where I get the "cannot receive programme" message the channel will not record it. So if i go to the guide and select a channel to record if that channel comes up with this mesage it will show on the LIB as an error. Interestingly if I manually enter a channel number it will nearly always produce the "cannot receive this programme error" but if I go through the channels using the up and down keys it seems to work. Home plug could be an option but I'm a noob at this stuff ![]() Another thing how the hell do you set up the remote to work with the TV? I tried holding in the TV button as per instructions but no LED flashed? Samsung WIS09ABGN £38.32 Still the best option if it worked. I think your problem is being caused by the one connection. Again get yourself a quad LNB off ebay. Only a few pounds and satellite cable 28p per metre at wilko's. mine works great. |

When Samsung said the new June/July update would cure the dongle problem did they mean the last one dated 23rd June? |

@martziniuk:
Quad LNB is the best solution. Till you buy/receive one, you can do Reset to Factory Defaults and choose Antenna Settings SAT1 or SAT2 instead of Two Cables. This would resolve your "cannot receive" problems, while it seems you try to use 2 tuner mode with only one cable connected. @Automan: No problem with 3d winbledon reservation at all, both men's and women's reserved ok. |

11. Some batches of remote controls have an issue and won't enter code entry mode. If the button does not start to flash you need to have a chat with Samsung who will supply you a new remote control.Samsung: We recognise this issue with the remote controls and have isolated the batches which are faulty. We are checking all remotes coming out of production and will make sure the issue is resolved and does not occur again. The Homeplug gadgets use your home power wiring to extend your network. One Homeplug plugs in near your broadband/cabel router/modem and the other one near your Samsung. e.g. http://www.amazon.co.uk/7dayshop-Hom...9588764&sr=1-1 I have not tried this method myself so I cannot guarantee how well they work. Other forum members may wish to comment or recommend another brand. As your box is only on one cable you may wish to check the software upgraded okay to the current version. Menu, Settings, System, Product Information, UK My one says Firmware 0.39/1.43 Software Version 004.000.0296 For single LNB use the manual talks about a cable splitter so both connections on the back of the box are used. Again, no idea if this actually helps. Automan. |

Automan, I had the same bug as you with regards series links which follow on. Recording the Kennedy's last night I got a two and a half hour recording for the second episode. This is annoying but not as bad as the Humax which failed to record both episodes.

I think I will probably buy a quad lnb for hopefully the way with the least issues and contact Samsung regarding the remote. Automan I upgraded via USB yesterday. |

Just checked my Bush Freesat recorder and it hadnt stopped recording Penn and Tellar from last night (itv1 hd). Had to turn off at mains to stop it. Recording padding is set to auto.
My best guess would be that program ending signals are not being transmitted properly. It may be an overall issue with the freesat service. |

Remote won't control the TV

Contact Samsung support via the web site and request a replacement remote. They will happily send you one: mine came in about 2 weeks. This is now a recognised issue and you should have no trouble getting a replacement. |

I had this issue. Some units shipped with remotes that do not support TV control functionality. You can tell this by holding the TV button down - it should flash after a few seconds to tell you that you entered program mode. Yours doesn't do that, same as mine.

Lol so we have a rough date for the next batch of fixes. Sounds like it should fully working by xmas! Suppose people can live with problematic double episode recordings until then, after all the sun is shinning.
I fed back this issue via their support website back on the 26.06.2011 @ 22:55:45 and it has not even been acknowledged. Still says "Waiting Reply" ![]() EDIT: I had a few minutes to spare so I have posted a new review at their website... Quote:
I have had my one since April 1st and to be honest until the second software update issued on June the 23rd it was nothing more than a doorstop even after a trip to the Samsung Warranty Repair Centre. At last most of the issues have been fixed ![]() Planed Recordings no longer vanish from Library/Timers. Program ends not cut off. HDMI Audio via A/V AMP now works. So now the box is quite usable. However, they have in this release introduced three new bugs one of which needs urgent attention. If two episodes of the same series follow each other and are recorded by a series link e.g. Batman, Family Guy, The Kennedy’s the unit will not stop recording one or both of them till hours later - this can cause other planned recordings to be aborted. If you playback a recording still being made and stop playback the resume information is not saved. Clock display is often 15 seconds slow which I suppose could effect recordings. I also understand that the unit does not work with the Wifi USB dongle device until yet another software update due in August. Automan. |

Latest round of issues
After reading through quite a lot on this thread and finding that I was certainly not the only one with the bugs that I had with the SMT-S7800 box I thought I'd share my latest issues I have with it to see if anyone else has ever had the same problem. This is what I have sent through to Samsung customer support so we'll have to wait and see what they say:
I have had problems with this Freesat box since I purchased in April. I have upgraded the firmware twice, once in May and then again in middle of June when each release was made. After upgrading middle of June all contents and timers in my Library are missing / disappeared. Sometimes but not very often when I go to the library some items re-appear but very rarely do they all re-appear together. Timers are clearly still recording as the recording light appears on the VFD display when scheduled programs are being aired but nothing is listed in the library contents. Before the upgrade I had around 15~20 items listed in the library contents and about the same timers set up. Two days ago I switched the box on from standby and the box booted up to the last channel I was viewing. This was displayed for about 5 seconds before the box rebooted. This now repeats infintely whenever the box is powered up from the mains supply and there seems no way of breaking out of this loop. Is this faulty hardware or a software bug that others have had? |

· Go to Freesat Information Channel 999. · Enter the following sequence of colour keys on your remote: Green Green Blue Green Green Went to try something on ITV3 and after a long wait it said nothing found, press back or exit. After that all I got was glitchy audio and blank screen. Returned to 101 and got normal picture and sound but trying 999 again all I got was a blank screen. Now when I press the red button on BBC1 I get a red cross onscreen. I will now power down and wait for low power standby to cut in. EDIT: Tried again with ITV1 and got the same error... "The service was unable to locate the content. Press BACK to return. Press EXIT to restart. (50060) So either no programs at the moment or it does not work. Automan. |

The Bush STB failed to stop record Gordan Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares last night (4HD). Although unlike the Samsung, the Bush box cant be stopped without turning off at mains, it does seem coincidental that both boxes have the issue of not stopping recording a program.
I would assume that it is a programming error on both boxes. Somehow they are missing the signal. Or maybe the signal has not been broadcast and the boxes dont know what to do without it. |

Is this faulty hardware or a software bug that others have had? ![]() Question - do you have both LNB's feeds connected to a dish? As a test to see if you can stop the rebooting I would unplug it from the mains, disconnected the LNB feeds and power up again. Perhaps then it would work long enough to perform a reset? Menu, Settings, System, Reset to defaults, pin 0000 This wipes all planned recordings but not your recordings. Afterwards of course you will have to reconnected your dish for setup to work. It may also be worth formatting your hard drive but of course that will delete all your recordings. BTW, Timer items only show up for programs it has found a match for in the program guide. Sometimes when you bring it out of standby this list takes a while to populate (as does sometimes the program guide). Automan. |

Added all the timers back in and touch wood has been ok since. Nick |
