Not sure about the volume level as I either use my TV volume or my amp.

When you put the box in standby it actually goes to sleep five minutes later and that is when the clock goes off.

Power consumption then drops to below 1 watt.

The only other time the unit shows the time is after it wakes up (15 minutes before a scheduled recording) and while making recording/s while in standby.

Automan.
I have my Samsung set to power-save mode, and the clock shows constantly in standby mode, but the time is wrong. Have now turned power-save mode off to see if the time stays correct. All timers for recordings are spot on.

Do you have the electrical consumption in watts for both modes please?

The Power-Save on option in the setup menu is an extra which turns the box off (if on) after three hours if no buttons are pressed.

Power-save mode (additional)
Allows you to turn on/off an additional power-save mode option.
If there is no interaction more than 3 hours between users and the STB in the period
of midnight ~ 5 A.M., the STB with the option turned on goes from live mode to
standby mode.
When you press the STANDBY button whilst the STB is in Active Mode,
the STB will switch to Active Standby Mode. After a period of 5 minutes, the STB
will switch to Low Power Standby Mode.

During normal operation every day, the STB will switch momentarily from Low
Power Standby Mode to Upgrade Mode for a moment. In this mode, the STB will
automatically check for upgrades that are being broadcasted.
When you press the STANDBY button whilst the STB is Low Power
Standby Mode, the STB will switch to Active Mode.
Thus it only actually has the one power save level of about 0.7watt.

In other words much the same as the auto off on a Foxsat-hdr, really not much of a difference.

So why do the tech specs show < 2 W

Merely accepting automans statement, could be <2W till full sby. 0.7 is still less than 2 .

No way of telling without without measuring unless the spec specifically says. It would if correct presumably conform to current eec regs.

can anyone explain the following function on this unit as the manual does not appear to mention this:

Go to the LIB , highlight a recording, select MOVE and then pressing the RED button is meant to show drives, however only TV appears even if I have a USB pen drive plugged in

Cheers

Left power-save mode off, and the clock on the front of the unit, when in standby, was still showing the wrong time.

You can only move a recording to another folder on the internal hard drive.

Copyright protection stops other drives or devices being an option.

Do you have both LNB feeds connected?

Okat that is fine but , my question is , what is this function for ?

Also I understand that the Humax model does allow for the recording to be "archived" to an external drive.

You can put your own photos and I think music files on the hard drive and perhaps videos (not tried that).

With the photos you can set a folder containing some to be the screen saver rather than the time.

The Humax I think is the only machine in this price range that lets you copy all sd recording off and some HD ones.

All I have managed to use the Samsung "move" option was to put all films I wanted to save into one folder.

But as I re-formatted the drive last wee they have all gone

Most of what you have said is done through the Media function not the library option.

I wonder if Samsung have put an option in that either has yet to be fully programmed in or added it by mistake. This option appears when you choose move in this area so unless they have made a mistake with it lets hope it is to compete with the Humax

Indeed, if Library only shows programs it has recorded the drive option is waste of time

When the clock display is really wrong do you know which channel it is recording?

Perhaps they are transmitting bad data?

Also, have you used non Freesat mode?

Perhaps that upsets the clock?

When I switch the unit to standby before going to bed, the display clock is correct, and I have never had anything recording at this point. Next morning the clock is hours out.
Never used non Freesat mode in the week I have had the Samsung.
Pleased with the unit that much that I am selling the Humax, but it would be nice to sort the clock problem.

I'm either misunderstanding you or my box works differently to yours. I have set Power Save mode to On, but the clock on the front panel still only displays for 5 minutes after switching to standby, then just the blue light shows. Is it possible that your box is faulty constantly displaying the wrong time? Do you get the same outcome with Power Save set to Off? Or maybe there is some other setting?

Did you do a factory reset and re-select the two feed option?

Same result if power save mode is on or off.
Will try to contact Samsung for their thoughts.

Have just done a factory reset and selected two feed option. Clock was right when I put the unit in standby, but within a couple of minutes was showing the wrong time. Clock was still showing after ten minutes, even though power save mode has been chosen.

I've got a problem with the postcode selection. When I input my postcode it says below "postcode invalid" am I doing something wrong? I can't get ITV+1 either but I get 132 watchable channels apparently.

Possibly a dish alignment problem, postcode validation requires access to the freesat home transponder on EB1 or maybe it's just missing from the database. Try M2 4JA (Manchester Town Hall ) that definetely works. If you are feeling posh you could try Buckingham Palace but that will give you lower resolution ITV1-HD at 1440 x 1080 rather than 1920 x 1080. Who said the Royals were priviledged

I tried Manchester but it says the same thing. Should it change to valid when I input the last letter?

It says "looking for home transponder" with the circle thing, then that goes off and I type the first postcode letter and it says invalid postcode

Strange. As I'm sure you know, it does need the space in the middle. My postcode worked fine.
