I had time this morning just to quickly switch the box on to check what programmes were on and noticed that the EPG hadn't fully populated. There seemed to be a gap of about 6 hours on at least the first 6 programmes (from 101).

I had to switch it off at the back & then on & reboot and it fixed it. Anyone had similar issues?

Alan.
There was major problems last night with the Freesat home transponder data streams. Reported widely on the Humax freesat threads. Seems OK now.

At the price and as long as you don't want the facility to backup recordings I would not hesitate to buy one.

Only bugs left are minor.

Thanks Automan, think my mind is just about made up!!!!!

Samsung got back to me today regarding the 'frozen clock' issue I am having with my unit. They stated they are now looking into this problem, and hope to have a solution soon.

Via the "My Samsung" part of their website once you have registered it.

I had a problem with live tv playback last night. When I pressed play after winding it back because I missed a minute it all went jerky, kinda like playing for a second, pausing then playing again, It did it all the way through.

I had the same after rewinding live TV then playing - picture stuttered but sound was OK. I hit skip forward which corrected it, but I have no idea why (either why I hit that button or why it worked!)

this is when I normally experience the problem too - and if anything is recording at the same time, especially if it locks up, the program being recorded at the point gets corrupt too and picture breaks up / jumps 30 seconds etc.

Only problem like this I have had is twice on ITV1 HD.

Both times it was after using the jump forward to skip adverts.

It then played back like a series of stills but with normal sound.

Stop and resume playback fixed it and this was a few weeks back.

Great description - that is exactly how it was, only mine was a fast rewind live TV then play, but it wasn't ITV1 HD.

For starters I would power down and swap over the two lnb cables to see if the problem moves.

Also it may be worth doing a reset (recordings saved but timers have to be re-entered) pin 0000.

Are the sound gaps only on certain channels?

If yes, perhaps a dish alignment issue.

Which program / channel?

I can try on a Humax box...

It could well be bad guide data.

5 mins after the recording problem it worked fine. I had viewed timers during that time so maybe leaving the guide sorted it? :s

Do you get the sound problems on all channels or just some?

If some, which ones?

If all channels, are you just using the speakers in your TV via the HDMI link or are you using an amplifier via HDMI or optical link?

My first box crash!

I was watching BBC 1 HD, unit was recording BBC 2.

Pressed Library button and TV screen and display on unit front went blank.

About 40 seconds later I got the Samsung startup logo and it started to record BBC 2 again (creating a second recording).

Seems okay again...

Bought the Samsung at the weekend to replace $ky HD...

So far so good mainly, but the unit takes about 40 seconds to boot up when switching out of standby - is this normal?

Was surprised to see that the power cable is hard wired into the back of the box... meant I had to take every cable out of the hole in my unit where the box sits, and then "shave" the excess plastic off the plug edges to for it to fit through! I couldnt even replace the plug as its got no screws.

Does anyone know if many HD programs are output with Dolby Digital - I've not found one yet?

Cheers

David

All the HD channels except ITV1-Granada use Dolby Digital either 2.0 or 5.1. The BBC-HD preview is all 5.1.

Also check menu / settings / sound / Dobly Digital is set to on.

Also set Audio Description to off if not already set.

Thanks Automan. Looking again, my amp actually says 2.0 when I switch onto the HD channels so its working OK now, guess I'll just have to wait for 5.1!
