Tried Twonky, no worky.
You definately have a setup problem, rather than a software problem.

I tried this morning using Twonky Mobile on my Xperia Arc S (Android) handset, and it was picked up by the Samsung box and I could browse music photos and movies.

Hope that points you in the right direction.

That's great, does point me in the right direction thanks a lot

Can I just ask, you are connected to your hub via ethernet cable rather than wireless adapter? If wireless adapter which one? And did you make any changes to your hub/router to allow for the samsung to pick things up through the network?

Thanks again

Samsung box is wired to my router (Draytek 2820) using ethernet, and the phone was connected wirelessly to the same router.

Everything is using DHCP.

Is there a UPnP setting on your router than needs enabling?

Not long now if they don't let us all down...

A fix for this issue will be available in the next software update, scheduled for the 2nd May from Samsung’s website. An ‘Over-the-Air’ download will be available from the 4th May.

I'll let you know BBC's response once they reply.

Message to Samsung:
Hi,

When using the BBC red button service in freesat mode via a BBC channel and selecting sport multiscreen after a short period of PLEASE WAIT...displayed on screen the sport multi-screen page loads.

However when accessing the BBC red button service in non-freesat mode via a BBC channel, when selecting sport multiscreen, the PLEASE WAIT...icon displays permanently and the page doesn't load. If possible I suggest that this issue is resolved, or can this only be resolved by BBC?

Thank you

Regards
Response from Samsung
Thank you for contacting Samsung.

Unfortunately, the BBC red button service is a service provided by the BBC and is only received and displayed by your Samsung TV. Any problems with the red button service will have to fixed with them.

Sorry I cannot be of further help to you today.

If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.

Kind regards,

After looking through the list of FAQs to see if Samsung are aware the issue when a series link programmed records some of the programmes from different BBC2 regions (It seems there are and it'll be fixed in the May update - http://skp.samsungcsportal.com/integ...=uk&seq=404137) there is one answer that suggests an update may be released in June as well:

Product : TV & AV > Television > Settop Box 2011-12-03

[FAQs] Settop Box : When recording clashes are detected, it deletes ALL recording schedules not just one. No alternative option is offered.
Samsung: A fix for this issue is scheduled for availability in June.
http://skp.samsungcsportal.com/integ...=uk&seq=404144

So I guess there could be another update next month.

OK.

I don't think I've come across the error it mentions in the question but I thought it would be June this year as the date for the question seems to be 3rd December 2011 as questions with answers mentioning the May update have the same date.

Have just checked this page:

http://www.dtg.org.uk/industry/download_schedule.php

This week's scheduled OTA upgrade isn't even listed anymore. Anyone know if it's been re-scheduled or just cancelled?

I am not sure the Samsung updates ever get listed on the dtg site.

Anyway, I have emailed Samsung via their website to ask them where the update is...

Me too. I suggest anyone else waiting for this update does too. This is almost a very good machine. But to be that it needs some issues sorted. This firmware update will show whether Samsung are interested in doing that.

I got a replay from samsung....

Dear Automan,
Thank you for your email. I am sorry for the trouble you are currently
having and understand the inconvenience this may have caused.
As far as I am aware there has been no release date due for any firmware
update for any device. This are not disclosed to customers nor to us
when these are to become available. There may be one in the near future
but no date has been disclosed on when this may happen.
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and
we will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
Gareth

My response...

Hi, many of the support articles on your website give the update release date.

e.g.

Settop Box : Missing programme information when accessing EPG Guide (Electronic Programme Guide)
Because of the way programme information data is updated whilst the device is in standby, occasionally some of the information is not completely gathered, and therefore is not displayed when the device is switched on.
We are aware of this issue, and are currently working to provide a software update, to enable the programme data to be displayed much faster.
A fix for this issue will be available in the next software update, scheduled for the 2nd May from Samsung’s website. An ‘Over-the-Air’ download will be available from the 4th May.
Model Info

SMT-S7800/XEU

So where is the new firmware?
Many users of this product having been waiting months for this fix and the vanishing recording library bug since last year!

So the whole of Samsung rely on Joe?

No wonder they take so long to release a fix....

If it is not till July that will be one year from the last one which was only a bug fix.

Who wants to point out that their very own knowledge base mentions a May 2nd and May 4th for OTA update dates...

Really Samsung by royal appointment. I bet if she had one of these they wouldn't have dropped support for it like the shitty stick....

I have had substantially the same reply, including a circumvention rather than a date for a software correction.

In regards to the library appearing to be empty of recorded programmes, this is a common glitch which can be resolved with a reset of the unit as follows:
- Use the remote control to enter Menu > System > Settings > Reset to Defaults > Enter PIN (the default PIN for all Samsung products is 0000)
- The display should say something like ‘Booting’ and can take a couple of minutes.
- It will ask to configure settings like resolution etc, so just set these as per your preferences.
- When it asks for postcode input, press GREEN button on remote which brings up the onscreen keyboard. Also ensure to put the SPACE in the postcode so the system can read it so you will receive the correct regional news programmes.
- There may be a blue screen coming up here with a ‘spinning circle’ – this is the box configuring new settings and might take a minute. It might also check for software updates – let it.
- The final screen will be a review of all new settings including the input postcode and region, etc. Just OK or confirm and that’s it.
*** Be aware: next time the box is powered on after reset it might take a little longer than usual – same applies to trying to access the EPG/channel guide and library. Also if you had any recording timers set up you will need to set these again – the reset will not wipe SAVED programmes but programmes flagged for recording in the future will need to be set up again. ***

I am extremely surprised that release management is being left to an audio visual engineer rather than a release manager or a configuration manager or a QA manager or delivery manager or... someone of that ilk. It does not increase one's confidence in the likely quality of the deliverable if/when it is released.

Perhaps Joe has been charged with that role? Depending on the size and nature of the project it may be seen as only a part-time job function.

Well if Joe is reading this, we would like to be beta testers.. It's no use having 2 days between website release and OTA release. I that's nonsense... Beta release on the website now and a email to feedback to.

I got another replay from Samsung which has not impressed me

Dear Automan,
Thank you for contacting Samsung.
Let me apologise that you haev waited such a long time for this update
and I can understand how frustrating it is for you.
Please be advised, after looking through your account I have noticed
many things you have been asked to try. One of the latest fixes for
this should work and this would explain why no firmware upgrade has been
released. This entails leaving the box of for atleast 30 minutes by the
mains power, when the box is turned back on, please carry out a system
reset. The has proven to be successful and this would explain why a
firmware upgrade has not been released. I recommend you carry this out.
Your library should not be deleted by carrying this operation out.
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and
we will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
Chris

Sounds like total BS to me.

So instead of new firmware just turn it off for 30 minutes
