Audio delays
Hi
I'm new to this box and thread and having searched I can't find consistent positions on the following issues I have found. 1. Anything I play from my networked PC or a USB stick (AVI Format) has a .5 to 1 second audio delay hence lip sync is out. 2. I can play MPG 2 files but again the audio delay and fast forward and rewind does not work only play, I know the spec only includes AVI but the MPG's do play. Can anyone adivise if these are general problems or is it just me that is experiencing this ? Thanks for any assistance. |

Audio delay

Sadly, it's not just you. It is my main gripe with the box - I had to abandon it for media playing and I use my BluRay player instead. In fact I like it as an HDR and don't have any serious problems with its HDR function (touch wood).
As you say the HDR functionality seems fine and the menu system is intuitive, the audio delay seems a rather glaring issue for a product that's been on the market this long. |

Returning Box??
Does anyone think there any chance of getting a refund on this box when I have had it for 11 months, fed up with constant loss of recordings, then having to reset to defaults and then add my recordings again.
Also no sign of itv player and always misses recordings on milkshake for the kids, just wish I got a humax, always thought an update would arrive to solve the issues but has never arrived. Not sure if it helps anyone else, but have noticed you get less problems if not in power save mode, but cost you more to run ;( |

Having trawled through most of the posts I am left in limbo...
Previously had a humax but have to say the clunky menus and poorly designed remote were not something I missed when we moved from freesat. However, we are now looking at reusing freesat but looking at alternatives to the foxsat. We would only use it as a pvr so would want good quality recordings and consistent stable operation. I'm confused!!!! |

I was wondering if the s/w update was delayed waiting for G2?
I know the box is not 100% G2 but perhaps they have been working towards using some G2 features? Wishful thinking ![]() Automan. |

Fed up waiting for this update, it's now a year since the last firmware release, a year of putting up with he bugs.
I'm off to trading standards to get Samsung to offer me a full refund on the unit. It's clear the unit is defective in software and there is no current fix, and no details of a fix either. I have had support tickets open for the repeated loss of recordings for over 6 months now, and I believe I am well within my right to a full refund from the manufacturer. I'll buy a Manhattan Plaza HDR-S box as a replacement... |

Can anyone else with this box confirm if they can replicate the issue so I know whether or not to send my box for repair?
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...postcount=1574 Thank you I've added the first 8 BBC olympic SD streams as shown at http://en.kingofsat.net/find.php?que...ics&Submit=Zap I pressed saved and they were added to my all channels list. I then deleted all of them. Then I performed the same manual scan again, the channels were found, I selected save and this time they were not added to my all channels list. (I then added all the HD streams currently available and I won't be deleting any of them.) This confirms to me that either the issue is with my box or this firmware. Can someone please do the same 'test' with the SD streams to confirm if this is a firmware issue? This would be much appreciated as Samsung have offered a repair of my box, but if it's a firmware issue I want to send confirmation it is so hopefully they will resolve this bug. The issue being if I manually scan for channels with x frequency and delete any of them, if at a later time I scan for channels with the same frequency they will be detected but won't be added to the all channels list. Thank you |

Samsung responded to my query yesterday saying that there is no date for a firmware update despite telling me in May that their AV engineer, Joe, said it would be available in June/July.

Samsung S7800 keeps switching itself off for no reason
hi everyone,
Maybe somebody can help me as I have no idea why the box keeps switching itself off after what could be a few minutes or a few hours. I have tried the software reset but it still switches off. Is this a known problem or do you think that the box is faulty? Thanks |

When it turns when making a recording do you end up with two recordings (before and after it turned off) which would point to the box crashing and rebooting. Automan. |

I have been plagued with this problem on my second (replacement) box and posted on here regarding it some time ago. No one replied so I assumed that I was alone!
Samsung suggested 1) reset - no good, 2) re-download software and re-install - still no good. It really is infuriating but if it goes off during a programme being watched and recorded, the recording goes on unaffected - strange. It is going into standby it seems in a completely random pattern. If anybody can suggest a cure I will be delighted. |

It might be a source of IR in the room like a low energy bulb. Try covering the IR receiver on the box.

Thanks, interesting hypothesis although I can't find any proven scientific references to low energy bulbs causing this. We don't have low energy bulbs or fluorescents anyway or any known sources of 900nm ish signals except possibly other remotes. It will be worth blanking the IR receiver area when it starts to happen again though. It can be every few seconds or once every couple of days - difficult to pin down!

There was a case of a lcd TV ccfl back light stopping a foxsat-hdr remote control working until the TV had been on 30 minutes.
http://blogs.rnw.nl/medianetwork/the...wave-reception http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=735192 loads more if you Google it. Just to explain further, in my case we ONLY use incandescent lamps no low energy at all, also, this effect occurs when using the Samsung as a radio tuner through the HIFI amp, in daylight, no TV is switched on in the house, no lights, very strange. Nevertheless if I get the opportunity I will try your suggestion of taping over the IR receiver with black tape. Thanks. |

I was thinking of IR from another device but the box seems to only use the same code for on and off so I would expect it also to turn on by itself.
