I had a message tonight saying a new firmware update, press ok to update, so been trying to see what's different, according to joinfreesat its for itv player, but that was already working for me the last couple of weeks so there must be something else in the update. Anyone got any ideas?

I think some have already been mentioned over the last 2 pages.

My box automatically updated on the day I posted here about the update disappearing off the website! I've noticed lots of cosmetic things, like the screen zooming in and out when entering/leaving the 'guide', the channel ID being across the preview screen when in the guide and content genre appearing on the screen menu when checking out what's on now/next etc...

Does anyone find it strange that you can record two channels and watch another from the same transponder but you cannot record two channels and watch I player, surely that's a bug, cannot understand why you cannot watch ondemand tv and record two channels. I'm sure you used to be able to but maybe the new software has changed it to make the box more stable.

My box has automatically updated itself (I think it was on 15th Nov). Funnily enough 2 of my series recordings were missed that day (which it never does) - could the 2 be linked?

(and yes Graham we know the Humax is brill and wouldn't have done this!)

Mine too has missed 2 series recordings (not on the day of upgrade). However, when I have tried to add them back I'm told there is already "another instance" in the library. On checking scheduled recordings they are not listed. If I find there is a repeat on another day and try to schedule for then I'm greeted with the same error message.

Have done the power down, but do not want to do yet another factory reset so soon after the last time

No point telling Samsung, as they'll just say it is my box and recall it for a format and reinstall of same software.

The wife had the same problem with eastenders on friday but she watched it on iplayer, they seemed to have created more bugs

New problem. My PVR is wired up to a Panasonic home cinema system. All of a sudden you can only get sound if the sound setting on the PVR is set to 'Digital DTS - On'. This didn't make any difference up to yesterday. Usually, I leave this off as I can't get sound on the iPlayer with it on. Anybody else experienced this issue?

Factory reset seemed to sort this out.

I had the "another instance" bug prior to any of the recent updates. It was resolved by deleting all of the timers.

I tweeted @samsunguk after the release of the most recent update about the 4:3 pillar box bug. (there are some channels in non-freesat mode like CNN in freesat-mode that used to display in anamorphic widescreen but now display in 4:3 pillar box even though 4:3 pillar box isn't the selected picture option)

In their response they asked me to keep checking for the next update. So it seems an update to resolve this bug may be on the way.

I have just bought a Samsung S/H off fleebay and so far impressed with the picture. I have 3 Humax FV PVRs but thought I'd try HD Freesat out. Now I'm interested in the web options such as iplayer but my wireless router is in another room. From the past posts the box seems to struggle so for me what are the options to getting the media options working?
My broadband is not particularly fast so is moving the router to the stb to connect the ethernet cable to only way it will work? The Problem is my old pc in the other room then wont have BB connected and no wireless option on that?
Is it worth the messing about and when watching Iplayer or utube is the picture any good as its not on the PC when I use it?
Cheers

Buy a homeplug, you can pick them up for 20 pound, you do need at least 2mbps broadband, possibly 3 mbps for a stable connection

Was thinking of setting this up later for the wife, not sure if it will work but cannot see why it won’t?

Set up a youtube account online so you can save subscriptions
and subscribe to 4od and demand 5 on the samsung.

Then you almost have a g2 box,

My plan did not work. I can access favourites and playlist but when you click on subscriptions they are blank, shame I was hoping this would work just for the occasions that the box deletes a timer or when we forget something is on. .May be something for the next update samsung please

I don't think Channel 4 or Five allow YouTube access via set top boxes.... not sure why though. Would be great if this did work though/

Some of the 4od stuff is working, i did add lots though as they have lots of different categories so i going to email demand5/ channel 5 to ask them if they can change the settings, they have demand 5 on iphone so restricting it to pc only makes no sense. Even tried adding them to favourites and that did not work.

I have sent emails and tweets to 4od and channel 5 asking them to stop restricting to pc only, will let you know if I get anywhere, maybe be a good idea if other people tweet/email also

No luck, five told me that there will be announcement in the new year regarding demand regarding freesat and channel 4 told me that they look at ways at increasing demand but do not disclose any plans for future platforms.

All they both got to do is let you tube content available for non pc devices. Not a big deal as demand5 and 4od both available on some mobile devices anyway.

rant over

Something good has happened to the box, I'm not sure when. When I'm in non freesat mode, it starts and finishes recordings automatically, it never used to do this. I also tried applying the start and final guard which is not available in normal mode, from what I can see it adds buffer to the recording. If this works for all my recordings, think ill be stopping in non freesat mode, lets hope so

New bug today that I have never noted before....

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps24eee100.jpg

Yes, several recordings are listed twice.

If you delete one the other remains but when you try and play it you get a can't play it error.

Anyone else seen this issue?

Hasn't happened on mine, luckily. I have recorded some of the same shows as you.

The recordings play okay and are only recorded once but listed twice.

Seems to have effected all recordings made in the last part of December.

Older and newer recordings are only listed once as per normal.

My Samsung box has not been powered up since last March as Sky rang & gave me a year at £10 a month if I went back to them. However this deal ends soon and Ill be putting my Samsung Freesat back in operation again.

Will it update to the new firmware automatically or will I need to do it manually via a USB Stick?
