I have set "The Malta Story" on Film4 this afternoon ok but I cannot record "Sea Wife" on Monday afternoon on CHN4.
I will delete "The Malta Story" Now it says I cannot record sea wife because Heartbeat & Diagnosis murder are set. BTW, when you get such a clash it deletes BOTH clashes and no option to pick one! So I click on Replace and OK. Sea Wife is now set to record and the complete series link for Heartbeat and Diagnosis Murder has been deleted! I shall now try and record "The Malta Story". As suspected, I cannot, "Another instance of this recording is already scheduled" So I can add poor handling of series links clashes and so far I have not been offered an alternate recording or +1 channel. It does offer HD versions when on offer. Automan. .Automan can you try this to see if both tuners are working as a hdrs do. Goto BBC1-HD and start an instant recording (I presume you can just push the record button) Goto BBC-HD and start a second instant recording. Now tune to any other channel (119 will be a good test). Can you view and live pause it ? |

Yes, when you press record it offers single program or series record.
So BBC1 HD recording BBC HD Recording ITV1 HD recording and I can pause it When I pressed record on ITV1 HD it said program saved in Library which it has. So yes this is a positive you can record 2 x HD and save the live TV buffer ![]() Automan. The main reason though was to make sure that both tuners are working as they should be. Clearly they are. |

Wish I could join in with the fault finding, samsung arrived but no dish as yet. Bloomin Royal Snail strikes again!
Beginning to wish I had not jumped the gun and ordered one so soon. Hopefully Samsung will be prompt with a software update. Has anyone tried further with the exporting of SD recordings? perhaps to a HDD FAT32 not usb stick ? |

It would indeed seem this product like many other new products was not actually tested before launch and left to the poor consumer to report all the bugs.
I set it to record Galaxy Quest from BBC1 HD and yet again the heap of xxxx has decided to record it from another BBC1 namely Northern Ireland - It had BBC1 HD listed in the recording schedule BTW. I also just tried media playback from USB. On my first attempt I got no sound. I thought surely the fools made sure it set the correct sound mode selected as I was last watching ITV1 HD with DD sound. Went back to TV, selected a SD channel and this time sound form MP3 files. Tried again from ITV1 HD and again no sound. Photo playback from USB works and even understands EXIF rotation data but in slideshow mode often you have to watch the hourglass as it had not yet loaded the last photo into memory (7mb jpg files). It also does not see .ts files and thus no playback of a humax video files. Library has a "Move" option but no "copy" option and a Drive button but my 16Gb USB drive is not listed, just the hard drive folders. Automan. |

The problem with being an early adopter of any new technology,is a real likelihood of glitches.Basically if we choose to be the first to purchase a new product we become guinea pigs.
As Samsung have invested in their new Freesat products they will want to keep their decent reputation intact and I suspect that once these glitches have been identified as such,a software upgrade won't be far away. Rushing out patches to fix basic problems again with no or little testing often leads to more problems. Automan. |

Automan haven't tried yet as still plugged into sky hd box. Will try tonight while not in use and let you know. Looking at that company's web site they're a service centre. I am guessing being fobbed off!
There's a possibility samsung not even aware of issues I guess. |

automan - I can confirm all the problems you are getting.
Also noticed (coming from sky HD) that you cant get any program info from the recording list... i.e. programme synopsis. Recording single programs records from a different channel and series link picks a selection of channels! Very odd. hopefully by 4 weeks is up for our sky sub, there'll be an update. I'm going to suss out media formats now - not got to the bottom of it yet! |

Perhaps a bit of persuasion for a speedy response is in order. Samsungs website has a submit review to express opinions. I suggest we use it !

http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/t...=specification Buggy Software Unit seems well built but is let down by software which makes it nearly unusable.. Series Links on BBC channels often record from the wrong regional BBC and when you ask for a BBC HD recording it tends to pick BBC SD Northern Ireland. On the Channel 4 family of channels including Film 4 only one future movie recording can be set as it thinks any other movie has already been scheduled to be recorded. HDMI Audio also has a fault and it only works if you set your A/V amp to pass audio through to your TV. Otherwise no sound. Recording Clashes are also handled poorly as it deletes both clashes rather than it letting you pick one. Once these issues have been fixed it should be a worthy Freesat+ box contender. Did not recommend as a purchase. Automan. |

Thought I would have a play even without the dish. Was going to try Iplayer, but found it only had support for youtube. This may be a software update installed when you have a satellite signal (current version 001.000.0256) Crashed once 1st video played, worked after reboot.
Very annoyed, this unit will not support any external HDD drive with the current software (confirmed by manual) what a waste of space !! Any PVR worth its salt will work with an external HDD. whats the point in being able to play video from a small volume USB stick ? Would not play or copy an AVI from memory stick either. Had a look at the review page, no feedback rating yet. I wonder why

Fired off an email to Currys informing them about the poor quality, buggy device they are selling. Requesting a refund. By the time they respond there may be some intimation from Samsung when a software update is expected (not holding my breath)

Would not play or copy an AVI from memory stick either. Was your problem playing an AVI with a particular CODEC or is this a more general problem? The Samsung technical spec webpage claims support for "Avi, Xvid, Divx". http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/t...=specification |

BBC iplayer only works if you have a working dish as you need to access it from BBC Text page.
Other things I have noted. 1. In guide it shows the series link symbol for some programs that have no series link. 2. If the HD showing of a program is at a different time or day from the SD, when you go to book the SD version it does not offer the HD version e.g. Thursday 21:00 BBC2 3. On ITV1 SD not message saying press blue for HD version. 4. Just powered from low power standby watching BBC News and even after 12 minutes of watching the guide it shows no programs for this Monday. 5. Screen saver cuts in on guide screen waiting for program data. 6. In guide view if you type a channel number e.g. 300 yes it jumps to that channel but hides all others. You can however just type 30 to list just channels starting with 30. 7. No button to return to live time in guide view. Re item 4, no guide data population on BBC1 SE either. Hold it, just quit guide and it now has data for Monday. I have seen the guide data populate while being viewed so not sure what the cause of this is. Automan. |

Personally I think it will probably turn out to be a decent piece of kit,and I doubt it will be too long before Samsung iron out the problems. If you not willing to wait for this to happen(which is understandable) I am sure you won't have a problem returning it and getting a refund. |

Hi bramble,
The manual states "external HDD not supported" (page 44) I connected my external HDD which I use with my Samsung TV (formatted fat 32) & it did not recognise it at all. So yes it is limited to USB sticks. Whether this will be supported in the future I do not know, but it seems a shame as this would be a major selling point like it is with their mediaplay TV's As regards to the moving files, I have not tried again. I would have thought that it would move the file even if it could not play it. Will have to try with a known standard AVI/DIVX. Thanks Automan, will have to wait for my dish to arrive then. (if I can get it installed before the Currys 7 day return deadline is up) |

Hi REPASSAC,
The external drive I used is 500GB in two partitions. Externally powered, both partitions are fat 32. And the TV recognises both partitions fine. Thanks terrykl, I will check out trading standards web site. |

Hold it, just quit guide and it now has data for Monday. I have seen the guide data populate while being viewed so not sure what the cause of this is. Automan. There is two ways the epg can get data, a complete new guide requires a tuner to download one from the EB1 home transponder. During the download the tuner can't be used for anything else. Some epg data is transmitted along with the broadcast data (similar to now and next) this in effect trickle charges the epg constantly which is why you have seen the epg update as you watch it. On the hdr pressing guide takes option 1 if tuner 1 is available and downloads the entire new guide, pressing schedule and red displays the buffered epg instantly. This is available under most circumstances including watching a recording. |
