3 Have Changed My Contract Without Permission

to add to the massive list of issues with 3, it now seems they have changed my contract to a 12 month extended one without my permission.

I phoned them early this month to ask for a cancellation of my contract and a PAC code to transfer my number, I was told they 'could do this no problem' but I would have to pay 12 months early cancellation costs.

The contract I was on was due to end in April 2011 so I inquired why I had to pay 12 months and they told me I had been put on a further 12 month contract which commenced in January. (I never rang up and asked to be put on this, or agreed to it and never received any confirmation my contract had changed).

They told me I spoke to someone in January and I said I had bought an iPhone and wanted a contract suitable for that ??? (I don't and never have owned an iPhone). The only conversation I had with them in January was about potential upgrades available towards the end of my contract.

I've been on the phone to them now for 40 minutes being passed from department to department and they are each saying because I didn't phone within 14 days of my contract change in January I can't cancel the new 12 month one (how can i phone up within 14 days if i didn't even know about the contract change as I never received a letter from them about it), even though I have explained that I wasn't told anything about a new contract and certainly didn't agree to one. They have sent an email to another department regarding it and I will be contacted within 24 hours (no doubt to be told the same thing).

Is there anything else I can do as it seems like they are just going to tell me exactly the same thing as before. I have been looking forward to getting rid of my 3 contract for the past 6 months since both myself and my partner have had constant signal issues. But it not seems like they're stitching me up for another 12 month contract.

Any suggestions?

Sounds to me like some dodgy sales person in January when speaking to them extended the contract to get commission. Ask for proof, like a recorded call or something which can prove it.

this happens with 3 all the time. They say people by commission. So they just make up sales. Until they get fired.

they should have the tapes.

Check they have the right address too. The sales guy might have changed your address so you weren't notified.

i think they have my correct address, i confirmed it with each of the 4 different sales people I spoke to so i'm assuming it's all up to date.

I have been with three for about 10 years?

Yes had issues but always resloved without e-mails etc.

I just got my best upgrade ever last month without asking for a better deal.

I think you just have to be patient with them.

Only my opinion.

patient isn't really an option with them when they changed it without permission then told me I was in the wrong for not contacting them soon enough. good for some, terrible for others I think

sometimes emailing the executive office in the uk is the only way to resolve the issue. There's something's that they cant comprehend in india and no amount of "being patient" will resolve a situation they cant understand, and your only ever going to get it resolved by a uk based contact centre.

it was a £15 a month tariff that was due to end (in it's 18th month) in April 2011. They have effectively extended the tarriff for a further 12 months, granted they have lowered the cost to £10 per month but I didn't want to stay with 3 for any longer due to the shocking signal outages or extremely poor signal that seem to be an almost weekly occurrence and issues with constant dropped connections.

I was tempted to switch over to 3 for their all you can eat data deals - but things like this make me really wary of them...

Well, i don't want to be wrong, but....isn't it like car insurance? unless you cancel it ....it continues, unless you tell them?

I understand your signal issues. That's if it's an issue reason to cancel.

no because when I rang up before my original end date, I was told that they had already changed it to a new contract based on a conversation about me getting a new iPhone ( a conversation I never had with them ). and that this contract couldn't be terminated for a further 12 months.
