Bottom 3 ........

Thia Megia, Casey Abrams and Stefano Langone

Thia is safe, it's between Casey and Stefano

Stefano is safe .........

CASEY!!!!!!

The Judges used their one and only save

All 11 will be going on tour and 2 will be leaving next week.

I just posted in the 'Live show' thread to say I wasn't completely surprised at the B3. I had a funny feeling that Haley may have been given a reprieve this week, and I thought Casey's performance was one of the worst last night.

Hope the Idols are all silently cursing Casey now though, seeing as 2 will be going next week

At least they're all on the tour now. Clearly something Nigel, the producers and the judges all wanted to happen.

Though Casey's a 'big' act I don't think the judges should've used the save up on him. I have the feeling they're going to regret it come the end of the series...

I agree. He had a bad night last night and the voters didn't like him. From comments poster after last week's show and then last nights, it was clear that he was turning off a lot of people.

He could easily be one of the bottom ones next week and get voted off. I think some of the other Idols are sold for the time being, such as James, Pia, Scotty and possibly Paul. But, really, who knows? It only takes a couple of shitty performances to maybe stop people voting for them.

They just wanted them all on the tour.

Considering the success of Carrie Underwood in the States I think they're planning big things for Scotty after the show...imagine if he goes in the double eviction next week??? I wonder how the production team would take the vote to save then?

I think regardless where Scotty ends up, they'll get him signed. Interesting that the judges gave Casey decent enough comments last night, and then more or less told him to pack in all the growling and grunting.

Maybe they could be a bit more honest and straight with all of the Idols from now on, and tell it like it really is.

I thought his look (the way he acted the song) was almost psychopathic at times during the performance. I didn't think it would be enough to see him sink to the bottom but it did seem...strange.

I don't think he's been good since Hollywood Week and Vegas, and a lot of comments I've read have echoed my thoughts.

Most of the Idols stepped it up last night, whereas Casey was just doing the same old thing, with very little singing. I think he's demonstrated that he really doesn't have a singing voice, and i don't think he'll be around for too long anyway.

IMO it's a wasted save, but I can understand why they did it.

Also, interesting that Steven said that Casey being the bottom one was wrong. I wonder who Steven really thought should have been the bottom one.....?

I agree with some of you posters above - the judges will probably end up regretting using the save so early, especially if the likes of pia/james/scotty end up with the lowest votes.

IMO a wasted save on casey - I personally find his performance quite bad and last night was dreadful.

Yup, a wasted save I think, bottom this early and he's never going to win, or even come close, but they obviously wanted him on the tour. I think a lot have seen what I see, a good music brain, but the voice just doesn't live up to it, much of what he does is very affected, the growling etc, his range is actually very weak and there's not enough personality in the voice to overcome this.

I think they saved him because he is an interesting performer even though he obviously did badly in the vote this week. I'm glay they did because I like Casey but Grapevine wasn't very good - plus he was on first an it's still a long show.

ETA I also think Naima and Haley will go soon, before Casey. Naima was OK this week but she struggles to stay in tune and I don't find her voice very appealing. It has no warmth. She is mostly about her image - her image isn't a conventional pop one but it is an image.

And the stupidly loud music didn't help him because his voice is not booming and powerful.

The save and drama are good for ratings. And next week the double elimination without save will also be good for ratings!

They should not have used the save in my opinion. It was unfortunate to say the least that Casey was there (but i wasn't surprised in the slightest)

I now think he has been saved at the expense of Pia or Jacob (one of them will end up coming 8th.9th)

And annoyingly, i think Stefano, Thia and obviously Casey will get the rebound vote and next week it will be

B3: Stefano, Naima, Haley

with Haley and Naiam going

Casey is one of he most talented musicians American Idol has ever had, why shouldn't he have been saved? I agree with their decision.

He is talented, but I find him gimmicky, and I am not sure of how talented he is.
Nothing he has done has impressed me that much, even Georgia. It was good but not deserving of the praised he received. May be if he received more realistic comments I would appreciate him more for what he is rather than what he is supposed to be.

I hope next week he is able to do something that really showcases his skills and that he can put a lot of thought into. Hopefully he is better now and can concentrate on the competition.

I agree that Casey is a good musician, and with his musicianship, he should have killed with a song like I Heard It Through the Grapevine. That was actually a great song choice for him. Sadly, he just killed it completely, and not in a good way.

If he takes on board what the judges said to him after they saved him, and he goes back to doing what he did in the earlier rounds, then he could get to Top 5.

He has to tone it down with the grunting and growling, as does Haley, or it will continue to put people off.

Well, even though he isn't my personal favourite, or even in my top three, I'm glad that they saved Casey. He's one of the bigger guns, and he's entertaining.

But I knew he would be in trouble this week, even before he opened his mouth. They had him on first, which renders him forgettable. They'd slicked back his hair and put him in a suit which somehow made him look like a narrow-shouldered, slimey vampire who'd just emerged from his coffin! He'd lost his sex appeal. His voice was rough on the runs during his song, not quite hitting things, but sounded okay for most of it (the song would have been more suited to Haley). Nothing stood out this week with Casey: the slot, image, or vocal performance, and at this stage of the competition anyone is vulnerable.

I can go with the other two being in the bottom three. Thia has a sweet voice, and sings in perfect pitch, but she's fast becoming boring, a little too wholesome. I doubt she's ever going to eclipse her rather stunning performance of Irene Cara's Out Here On My Own, so has peaked too soon. Stefano half murdered what IMO is probably the greatest soul ballad of the entire 1980s, and it paled in comparison to David Cooke's AI version. In his VTs Stefano doesn't seem to handle the producer's criticism well either, it's in the way he looks at him, I've picked up on that two week's running, so I feel he's possibly starting to come across to viewers as arrogant - and through always having his eyes shut during performances, rather self-absorbed.

I've noticed that as well, although I read it as Stefano not being familiar with the songs, so not fully understanding how to convey the emotion and feeling that should be associated with them.

I do wonder how much musical knowledge Stefano does actually possess.

Can't believe you guys.

Casey, Jacob and Pia were the standouts this week and Casey converted me from 'meh' to a big fan. This is the easiest save the judges will ever have.

Try to look beyond the hair and the beard. Stop judging and start listening people!

There's no question they should have saved Casey I'm just annoyed they stopped him singing his save song. It sounded like it was going to be great

Not really surprised he was in the bottom, but slightly surprised he had the lowest vote. That said, he did deserve to be there... his Heard it Through the Grapevine was poor, and Smells Like Teen Spirit terrible.

Hate the results show, for the cheesy singing/dancing routines and tonights routine was as usual very embarrassing BUT then they wheeled out Stevie Wonder, GREAT! Then we had Happy Birthday with cake and giant card. Then the drama of the bottom three. Then Casey in the bottom Then shots of the other contestants with openend mouths and poor James twitching like we have never seen him before Then Casey's last chance to sing Then the order to stop singing. Then he is told he is staying Then Casey has a seizure Then he runs to Mum and Dad. Then he is told by the judges to stop messing about as you have really been crap Then they are told they two will go next week BUT they are all on tour YAY

Hilarious stuff - best result show
