Well, even though he isn't my personal favourite, or even in my top three, I'm glad that they saved Casey. He's one of the bigger guns, and he's entertaining.
But I knew he would be in trouble this week, even before he opened his mouth. They had him on first, which renders him forgettable. They'd slicked back his hair and put him in a suit which somehow made him look like a narrow-shouldered, slimey vampire who'd just emerged from his coffin! He'd lost his sex appeal. His voice was rough on the runs during his song, not quite hitting things, but sounded okay for most of it (the song would have been more suited to Haley). Nothing stood out this week with Casey: the slot, image, or vocal performance, and at this stage of the competition anyone is vulnerable.
I can go with the other two being in the bottom three. Thia has a sweet voice, and sings in perfect pitch, but she's fast becoming boring, a little too wholesome. I doubt she's ever going to eclipse her rather stunning performance of Irene Cara's Out Here On My Own, so has peaked too soon. Stefano half murdered what IMO is probably the greatest soul ballad of the entire 1980s, and it paled in comparison to David Cooke's AI version. In his VTs Stefano doesn't seem to handle the producer's criticism well either, it's in the way he looks at him, I've picked up on that two week's running, so I feel he's possibly starting to come across to viewers as arrogant - and through always having his eyes shut during performances, rather self-absorbed.
