Amy Studt...
Any fans? Gosh I loved her back in the day. I always thought she got a bit of a rough deal to be fair.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWbMAa7RrUE One of me faves.

I loved the False Smiles album.
It had some great tracks: Just a Little Girl Misfit Under the Thumb Ladder in my Tights (my favourite) and so on. I've not really listened to her newest album but I liked Nice Boys. |

I forgot about this girl, I had Misfit ages ago but she kind of disappeared from the scene.

She's one of my favourite all time artists, she's so much more talented than people give her credit for, I made a topic recently for her and it's got loads of song links on it for fans tolisten to her gorgeous voice!

bit of a rough deal in what way?
1. She was compared to Avril Lavigne who's she's far more talented than for sure. 2. She was dropped rather quickly after the rerelease of one album and she was the last to know about it!

Why are you reacting like that?
Amy's lyrics, voice and more varied style is far better than Avril's and that's my opinion! Look at that other thread there are many more tracks on there, if you can't hear she's much better than Avril then I give up. I like Avril but she's nothing on Amy Studt, I consider Amy to be closer to someone like Tori Amos perhaps (vocally) who she has also been compared to!

I have no problem with Amy Studt at all and do like some of her songs, but as an artist she could not compete on any level at all with Avril Lavigne.

Why do threads like this always have to descend into a 'X is sooo much better and more talented than Y' slagging match? I like Amy AND Avril, both are very talented ladies and should be judging on their own merits rather than against each other. Personally I prefer Avril but if others like Amy Studt better, good for them!
Rant over, let's play nice can we?

Anyway it's just an opinion, just listen to all of the tracks on my thread that I posted and if you still think Avril is better (more talented/interesting then so be it) but I won't understand it. ![]() The recent demos of Amy sound real promising and she's completely transformed her sound yet again, I'm just really excited for her 3rd album, her voice and songs are so touching to me! And anyone who says she can't compete as an artist with Avril is simply talking out of their bum, Amy writes virtually everything she does and sings with such emotion/sincerity and her music is always changing and interesting, so I don't think Avril can compete with Amy as an artist so I feel opposite to you.

I like both artists but when it comes to comparing talent there is only one winner. |

Once Amy Studt composes and produces some songs on her own, i will compare songwriting. They have mostly worked with co-writers so far. I must add i don't believe Avril to be an amazing artist, just good.
Amy Macdonald beats both ![]() But let's not debate that one! haha |

Wow, I'm surprised at all the replies I thought I was the only one who remembered her! I do love this girl, and it's a shame she turned into a flash in the pan. I guess she wasn't charasmatic enough, and she did have this miserable 'i dont want to be here' kind of flair about her. It's stupid comparing her to Avril, Amy comes across as much more credible and she does write her own lyrics, as opposed to Avril who only writes a few lines.

![]() Amy is one of my Top 5 favourite artists, she really touches me like very few have and her voice is just heaven! I've been a HUGE fan for about 3 years now I think possibly longer! I really wish my topic was more popular though as I've got loads of links of her on there and I'm going to be adding some obscure tracks and demos if people are interested... |

. Actually Avril writes all her own lyrics even on co-written songs and she also has a whole host of self penned songs (Lyrics and Music) behind her, but you would have found all this out if you had done a little research. ![]() Plus the little fact that she has sold near 35 million albums |
