Is it soon?

If so, what is the usual price range? I'm feeling it this year

I'm sure the tickets are usually free and you get priority if you live in the venue area

I was gutted that I missed it in Maidstone a few years ago

best thing to do is listen to radio1 or go to their website.

Tickets are free every year. You have to register online and then it's kinda like a lottery, with a favouring towards people who live in the area. The location is announced this Wednesday, so I assume registration starts around then too.

Thanks for the replies, I had no idea! I assumed you had to pay everyyear aha. Makes sence now though.

So what would a 'newbie' like myself do? Register then within a month or so if i'm selected then I win a set of tickets or just 1?

Thanks!

Is it? They haven't announced it yet, it said on R1 today that the announcement was on Wednesday.

My guess it'll be in either Northern Ireland or (probably) Scotland. Judging by the past Big Weekends

England - 6
Wales - 2 (including last year, so unlikely to be Wales this year)
Scotland & NI - 1

"There is no age limit for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend. However, if you are under 16 you must be accompanied by a responsible person who is at least 18 years old. You may also be asked for ID if you look under 16. Children under two years old do not need a ticket, but those two and over will need one. Please bear in mind that this is an outdoor event, with loud music and large crowds expected."

Does that mean I can go if my brother is 18 at the time?

Apparently, it's at the airfield (wherever that is. I don't live there) in Carlisle on the weekend of 14th/15th May 2011.

Another worthy cause for the licence fee.

I went to the one in Sunderland in 2005 and it was absolutely great. It's amazing how the BBC can put on a festival - which it basically is - for free! However, back then you had to queue for tickets. My Mackem friends queued for almost 2 days to get tickets for both days!

From previous experience, they e-mail you back regardless - I remember having one telling me I was unsuccessful.

Also, the number code thing they issue you, can be used on the website at some point to see whether you are selected or not!

Don't give up hope just yet!
