There really did seem to be far too many adverts this year or maybe having the 'serial advert' in the ad breaks made it seem like more than usual. I think the series suffered for the lack of Pavel, Andrei and Fred. Having the two weeks before the competition actually started made the whole thing seem too long!

The Facebook page could be a good place to leave comments, posted either on the wall or as a note if you want to say more. Someone could even post them a link to this thread if there are no objections from FMs here. No promises anyone would read them of course but as it's official then at least we're aiming straight for the people who matter.

I've already said a lot on the "Changes for 2012" thread so I'll try not to repeat myself here. On the whole I really enjoyed this series. A couple of things I'd pick out to comment on:

Worst Bits:

1) Balance of Judges: I'm not so fussed about only having 3 but if it had been more skewed towards skating judges some of the results would have been very different. I can cope with Jason but Emma brings nothing to the panel. The Jason v Karen spat just left a nasty taste in the mouth, though, as they really can't stand each other. A bit of panto villainy is fine but any real problems need sorting out for next year.

2) Ice Pick: Totally pointless, especially only doing it once.

3) Qualifiers: Another pointless idea that got us so close to losing Laura and Jennifer before they'd even started.

So-so Bits:

1) Team Challenge: I enjoyed the routines but the result was too much like tossing a coin. At least the right person left that week, avoiding the controversy they probably wanted.

2) Final Showcase: In theory a great idea but it worked better for Sam than the girls. Future showcases should be tailored more towards the partnerships' strong points than just chucking everything into the production.

3) Tricks v Skating: The tricks are getting more ambitious, which is great to watch, but I'd hate it if it became too much about the tricks and less about the footwork.

Great Bits:

1) New Pros: Gutting out the cast was a huge gamble but it paid off. An impressive first year for Colin, Michael, Jodeyne, Isabelle, Katie and, to a lesser extent, Sylvain.

2) Solo Skate: An excellent way of testing the celebs as to how far they'd come and how confident they were on their own.

3) Unpredictability: So good not to have a one horse race this year. Laura and Chloe snapped Sam out of his complacency and any of them would have been a worthy winner.
