Did Colin let Laura down?

Sorry if this has been discussed on another thread - did look but couldn't find it.

Did Colin let Laura down for the Bolero? I doubt if most of the pro skaters are choreographers, but it wouldn't have done much for Laura's confidence to have her pro partner announce it on camera! If he had difficulty with the choreography, all he had to do was study T&D bolero (they are allowed to copy) and make a few changes as they went along. I thought he made some "wobble" mistakes as well, which couldn't have helped Laura - in fact, in that routine I thought she looked better than him.

Having said that, I thought Sam a very worthy winner - definitely the best on the night.

I don't think he let her down. I think Brianne's experience shone through - the fact that she had choreographed a Bolero before no doubt helped.

I do think he let the nerves get to him more than Laura did when it came to the Bolero which is a shame. But he's guided her that far and did an excellent job. And I feel it was just Sam's night - even if he'd choregraphed an excellent Bolero I don't think they would've won.

I liked their bolero but Colin looked nervous and Laura skated/performed it better than him I thought.Wanted thm to win but well done for being 2nd.

At the end of the day when the pros sign up for the show they KNOW full well if they get to that final that they HAVE to choreograph Bolero if they are NOT up for the job then dont sign up for the show.

I don't think he let her down I just think that the style of the Bolero for me doesn't seem to be one of Colin's strengths .. I know I've mentioned it before but I feel that Colin, whilst a great skater (all the pros are) is more of a "showy" type of skater who excells at a lot of the bit stunts and tricks .. he's not as balletic as the likes of Michael or Dan . who's skating styles suit Bolero type routines .. just looking at Chloe's partial rehearsal of the Bolero show to me that Michael is more balletic and graceful in hs choreography and his lifts are more "arty farty" for want of a better word . .. if they'd had to choreograph, say a Barnum type of routin Colin would perhaps have been more comfortable and confident as I feel that would play more to his strengths

Also as has been said Brianne had the experience of already choregraphing a Bolero so it must have come easier to Sam and her

I totally agree with you no he didnt let her down. I think It wouldn't have mattered how good laura was in the bolero. i think sam was always going to win even though i really wwnted laura to win.

No - even if Sam's was better, Laura & Colin's was better than a number of the boleros on the show over the years.

No, not at all.

Laura & Colin's Bolero was perfectly respectable. It's just that what Sam & Brianne produced was such a tough act to follow.

Completely agree

Yes, he needed more pics of his torso on twitter and double the amount of twitcams.

That may have upped their percentage enough to catch Sam

He should clearly have confiscated Chloe's phone too.

Very slack of him.

Colin got a bit daunted by the task, he admitted so himself. Yes, he could have come into it better prepared and his lack of experience of the task compared to Brianne possibly swung it but it wasn't a shoddy routine by any means. I don't think the judges should have critiqued it while the lines were open.

Having Colin say he was struggling on camera was just one of those "are they going to get this tricky move right on the night" moments they put into every VT.

Sam and Brianne had a stunning night so it's too harsh to say Colin let Laura down. The only way he would ever have let her down would have been if they'd got voted out in either of their skate-offs.

If it waasn't for Colin and his support its quite possible Laura would never have made the final.

Assuming they want to Colin and Sylvain will definitely be back next year!

Got to agree with the OP, it seemed hesitant and stop-start whereas Sam's looked more free flowing and effective.

Nope, not in the slightest.

I reckon if Laura were a professional she'd have been a great match for Colin with her more athletic, bouncy style. They were perfectly complementary all the way through the show, right up til the Bolero which (as I've said on other threads) is just not their sort of routine, period.

Showing that VT of Colin was a bit disingenuous really, especially when set next to all that stuff about Sam's rib injury. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but the editors must have known how that was going to look
