Not sure what happened to the last thread. But the new tariffs have been officially announced by O2 today. Full details on O2's blog: http://blog.o2.co.uk/home/2011/03/ne...tethering.html

seems pretty damn expensive.

like a standard 600minute 500meg 180 month contract is £42

O2 will be lucky to have any customers left the way they keep making their tariffs more expensive lately glad I moved last week.

Well either I've been properly stitched up or I've managed to upgrade my contract and for an extra £1 something a month am getting 20 free picture messages (Whoopie) and more importantly am getting iPhone tethering enabled (Which is linked to the 500 meg inclusive data usage). And I'll still be able to upgrade come December when my contract is up.

That's what I was told anyway!

...they don't seem that bad IMO!!

I'm currently on a £45 a month which gives me : 1200 mins, Unlimited texts, Inclusive International Traveller Service, 750MB Data & Unlimited Wi-Fi.

I've been told that I can only drop to the next lower tier tariff - which is one of the £41 a month which inlcudes 900 mins and unlimited texts.

If I then purchase the new £6 500MB Data Bolt-On, this will give me 500MB (more than enough - I currently only use less than 100) to either tether or to use data normally on my iPhone 4.

An increase of only £1 which will also allow me to tether is no bad thing..!!

I'm on 1200 mins/500txt/uld data and get a £10 rebate each month (£35.75)
Forgetting the discount I'd pay £45.96. I use 1.5-2.5GB data a month, so the new plans won't cut it for me, so I'm off at the end of the contract.

lol i'm with 3 and only paying 30 a month for 500mins, 5000 text and 1gb internet, the new o2 prices look indeed expensive.

I see a lot of people moving elsewhere.

why cant providers offer 1gb data is there not enough network capacity to offer this ?

Hmmmm, I'm not sure what to do now when my 12 months is up at the end of May.

Do I drop down form 300 mins, Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Data for £15 a month to the £10 100 minutes and 500 texts and then buy a 500mb data bundle bringing me to £16 a month.

I knwo most of you will scream "don't do it!!" in respect of me giving up my unlimited data, but I have only used 3gb the whole time I have had the iphone so really don't need it, even though I do like to have it.

I've got no real way of telling how many texts I send a month, so again not too sure if 500 is enough or not. I wish with the unlimited plans they still told you how many you had sent or could request the info to be texted to you.

I've just got an ipad 2 with 3G, so am looking at a way of getting that on mobile internet as cheaply as possible.

I'm thinking the greed of the mobile companies might finally push me over the edge and I will jailbreak my iphone 4 once a stable unteathered jailbreak for ios 4.3 is released and download the Myfi app from Cidia.

Edit: just found the number of messages in the detailed billing area on the O2 website. I used just short of 500 messages last month.

I dunno, if you don't tend to ring people much and mainly use your phone for data, iPhone users can make a fair saving on the existing tarrifs and get tethering to boot.

Bad for everyone else though. And everyone should drop O2 anyway due to their lies over censoring online access.

I'm on PAYG with 3, and just by topping up £15 a month, i will get 300 minutes, 3000 texts and all you can eat data, which i am free to use for tethering if i wish!

The new O2 tariffs seem pretty bad value IMO.

I am with 02, PAYG on the Simplicity £5 per month unlimited text deal.

Now whilst in itself this is obviously pretty good value (as I tend to send about £35 per month worth of texts which would normally cost 12p a time on PAYG!) I got a standard recorded voice message telling me that the cost of phone calls on this tariff is going up from 20p per minute (landline and mobile) to 35p per minute and that any internet use (on any other simplicity tariff) goes down from 100meg to 50meg per day....

Seems a bit excessive to almost double the price of calls and half the internet access limit?

Or is this just me??

Great, I was going to downgrade nextonth to save myself some cash, as per my current contract. Now a downgrade would cost me more!! Yet ANOTHER change to the system that leaves me worse off, you will be re Irving my written request to terminate very soon. You already took me off my unlimited data plan, started charging my picture messages and took away basic services like 1471, enough is enough!

I take the above back! Just rang customer service who have allowed me to downgrade from iPhone 24 month £35 deal to the new £15 deal with dta bolt on so I'm £14 a month in the pocket and get free mms again the lady laughed when I told her I used 22 of my 600 mins last month!!

So all is not as bad as it seems!

in two months (you can only drop down twice, and only once per month) time ill have gone from the £45 per month, to £27 inc 500 megs and tethering.

it's a better deal than they used to offer.

i currently get 600 mins / 500 texts and unlimited data (as signed new contract before 24th June last year) for £29. I usually use 2gb of data or more per month so i definately won't be renewing my contract, i'll probably just stay on a month to month contract once the minimum terms finishes unless there are any better offers out there.

Only downside to current contract is that it doesn't include tethering, however as i'm using a jailbroken iphone, MyWi sorts this for me anyway

Same here. When I next upgrade I'll probably change to another provider, the way things are looking.

I dunno what happened to the last thread, anyway I'm on an old 30 day Simplicity 600m, 500t with unlimited data bolt-on tariff.

Every tariff refresh sees o2 removing value and services, so much so I now consider them the new FT Orange.

As I still get my 1 roaming SMS / 1 MMS = 4 SMS from my inclusive bundle, free paper billing, unlimited data, free voicemail etc I won't be considering moving to a new tariff from them and as I buy my phones as and when needed unsubsidised/simfree I won't be tricked into an upgrade then losing my current benefits either.

I'm quite sure o2 discontinued unlimited data for existing customers on 1st September 2010.

I believe you're now limited to 500MB.

are you sure you are allowed to tether?

The One Plan is a different proposition. The PAYG AYCE deal we are currently offering does not allow tethering and therefore the use of a smartphone in this way would be outside of our terms and conditions. We’re keen to for you to guys to make the most of AYCE data on PAYG but we don’t support tethering on this plan.
