Bored with Bolero now

I think they should dump the Bolero next year it is old hat and boring, do something different like on SCD, the showdance (which was millions times better than stupid flying this time) and their fave routine like they did this year then the final two have to choreograph something totally different from scratch not Bolero

I tend to agree with you. It is fine if it is a good one, like Sam's but sometimes it is a bit boring. We actually had to sit through the music three times on Sunday, even though David Garrett's version was superb. I have never liked the music but the excellent skating by Jayne and Chris made it tolerable.

I agree, I remember the 'wow' factor when it was revealed in the first series that the finalists would battle it out to Bolero, and back then it was good for a few years. But the wow element has gone now and it's become a bit 'oh Bolero again'. Something diff next year would be great and I also really liked the showdance over the flying too.

I'm bored with it no matter who skates it or how.

What about a different T&D routine then? Face The Music and Dance has similar medal-winning pedigree (OK, it's not a gold but hey)...or Barnum, or even a routine fitted by T&D to the individual in question.

I reckon if they'd done that this year Laura would've ended up with Barnum or similar and might even have beaten Sam out for the prize

It was worse than ever this year because not only did the contestants do it but bloody T&D gave us a dose of it first thing. I made a cuppa when they were on and suffered through laura and Sam.

Please, please ditch it along with the flying. mac and mabel is a smashing routine and well within the contestants range.

I enjoyed seeing David Garrett again.

I said on the 2012 thread, keep the T&D reinventions as a finale showpiece, but have the finalists choose another T&D routine to channel, or get T&D to choose one each year. There are a good few to be chosen from especially if you count all their amateur and pro comp routines. Put Bolero to the back and it may not come up again before the series stops running!

Bolero was T/D finest performent, maybe with them being the mentors it is written into the contract.Personally I like the idea as the closing scene.

I'm glad that other people enjoy the final scene.:

I, too, love Bolero, but, IMO, no-one can perform it like T& D.

Although, I do understand why younger viewers wouldn't emphasize with it.

Agree with most of the comments posted. I dont see why we have to go thru 'bolero' year after year. Torvill and Dean are just the presenters of the show, it isnt their show. Why cant they choose other winning routines from the Commonwealth or Olympic games from the last few years. This would cause a lot more interest in the final, if the viewing public only heard of the final routine the week before the final it would prove a more interesting final.

Whilst I sympathise with people's views on Bolero & I too would love to see what contestants would do with other great T&D routines, I can't see it ever changing.

You have to remember that we in here are not typical of the average viewer who will associate T&D with Bolero & nothing else.

I agree. I do find some of the contestants Bolero's boring, but I am not bored with the Bolero itself. Best I've seen, other than T&D's, is Ray & Maria's. Thought it was very special!

I would be quite happy never to see the Bolero again..... definitely too much of a good thing. This year, even T&D's version looked old hat.

They did plenty of other routines that they could use.

Bolero has now been done to death. Yes - it was good a quarter of a century ago - but times change and Torville and Dean cannot skate it to a perfect score these days. In fact the year after they won they came fourth or fifth with a mediocre routine. They are like the old Music Hall Artists - have one act and then do it to death as nasium. I am fed up with the pair of them - The Grand Dames of Ice Dance - it is time for them to hang up their skates and make way for new talent. I love the skating but not the pontificating from them or the nasty comments from so-called ice-dance experts who have never won a contest on ice in their life, It is time for a change.

The problem with Bolero is that it's always not going to be as good as the 1984 T&D version, so people to some extent in the back of their minds are always going to be comparing it to the original, so it's bound to be a bit of a disappointment.

I'd be happy to see them dance their favourite routine - followed by a show performance, similar to this year, but with input from their chosen pros.

That's it - ditch Bolero.

I like the original T&D Bolero routine and I quite like the idea of the final two getting to perform it but having T&D skate another version on the final is a bit overkill

The last time I watched the 1984 version, I didn't like it either.
