If i remove my sold with the box humax hard drive 320GB to upgrade to 1/2TB can i plug it back in later to watch/listen to the recordings, or will it automatically format and i'll lose everything? I've got alot of HD content saved and i'm running out of space fast lol.

Yes you can replay the recordings from the old drive.

Get yourself a usb drive caddy like this one

http://www.allcam.biz/catalog/produc...roducts_id=693

Drop in the drive and connect it to either of the usb ports.

Once the usb drive is recognised press Media.

Look at the top of the display You will see a lozenge which displays the current device (HDD) in this case. Alongside is USB1 (assuming you only have one usb drive connected).

Press RED and right to select usb1. You will see varous partitions, cursor to Partition 3 and OK to open it. Repeat for the video folder in this partition. All your recordings (individuals and folders) will display. Play them back as usual.
