I had forgotten about them, i know they were pure cheddar cheese but i think they had some pretty catchy hits. They had 14 consecutive Top 5 singles too.

Steps are great! My fave song would have to be It's the Way You Make Me Feel.

I do think 5,6,7,8, is still one the cheesiest songs I've ever heard, but it's still so great!
5,6,7,8

Last Thing on My Mind still sounds good, as does Love's Got a Hold on my Heart and Heartbeat.

Probably one of the greatest bands in the history of music (only just losing out on the top spot to Abba)

Great feel good music that makes you want to sing and dance, and evokes memories. Only Abba, S Club 7 and Steps can actually boast this.

No matter what type of music you like, you can't deny they were bloody good at what they did!

It may have been cheesy but it really gets people smiling and up dancing. Its what we're missing nowadays.

It's the way you make me feel is IMO an actual quality song

As you say 14 consecutive top 5 hits is some going. No doubt it would have been way more if they'd kept at it

IMO Here And Now is the most musically superior of their pop singles - surprisingly so, since it came from the last album.

.
sorry...but thats utter rubbish, and steps and abba are complete opposites of eachother. how you can liken a totally manufactured pre-packaged act with one of the most creative, musically gifted, real bands of all time is shocking.

No matter what type of music you like, you can't deny they were bloody good at what they did!
again, i have to take issue with this..just exactly what did they do? mimed and danced a pre-choreographed routine to a track someone else created... go to any school playground today and you will see groups of kids going through a dance routine... it aint hard to do!

steps were the very epitome of everything wrong with pop music, they were total puppets, and i find it incredible that anyone over ten years old should give them the time of day.

We used to make up our own dance routines in the 80s, to Madonna, or Bananarama, or whoever's music we could get our hands on. In one instance, a friend and I choreographed a superb dance to "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" by The Clash.

Steps were really embarrassing. They reminded me of Butlins Redcoats leading some sort of childrens' disco activity, so mum and dad could go and drink in the bar. Why they were popular with anyone above primary school age, I never understood.
