HTC Peep - not working

Yesterday Twitter performed maintenance on their system and as a result I can no longer sign into Peep on my HTC Desire. It says username and password incorrect when they are actually correct. I can sign in through Twitter proper on my laptop.

Apparently this has happened on the system before, I found out by searching around on the internet and Twitter need to do something so that we can view it again.

Anyone come across this before?

Twitter may have made some changes to the API used to connect to it.

Peep may or may not need an update.

Check Android Market....

You could just get the official Twitter App instead.

I too am having this problem with an HTC Desire on t-mobile UK network. I take it that Friendstream isn't updating your twitter feeds either. It's also affecting people I know in Germany. I've been in contact with t-mobile and they weren't aware until I told them about it. They say they have passed it on to their software engineers and HTC for further investigation. I won't hold my breath awaiting a reply soon though.

Thanks for the reply Rob, I hadnt tried friendstream but just did and got the same error message about the password or username being incorrect.

Hopefully it gets sorted soon.

I'd go on the Market and download a free app called "Seesmic" amazing app and alot more reliable and feature packed than HTC Peep

I swear by it!

It's all well and good using third party apps, but Peep and Friendstream both come preinstalled on the Desire. You cannot uninstall them, so if they weren't used, they would just be taking up valuable space on the phone.
I too use the official Twitter app, but Friendstream gives updates on both Twitter and Facebook together.
I have noticed it is the 'Twitter for HTC Sense' account that I am unable to reinstall in the Add Account tab under settings > Accounts & Sync.
A friend of mine has a Desire too, but his has not been affected strangely enough.
I have been in contact with both T-Mobile UK help and HTC. I found that neither of them was aware of any problem until I told them to search twitter for #peep and you'll see there are quite a few of us worlwide complaining. I am currently awaiting an email from both of them. It is believed that Twitter is to blame after recent security upgrades. I will post again when I have an answer.

Hi all,

I factory reset my phone at the end of last week, and came across the same problem when setting up the Twitter component. I sent a tweet (via the web) to TMobileUKhelp who are normally really helpful and got this back:

Hi David, we have raised this with HTC as it would appear that Twitter have changed their authentication system for clients. Thanks

So I expect we'll see an update arrive soon hopefully. I'll tweet them back and see if they've got a time to fix yet.

i am just watching @htc on twitter (through the web) waiting for some news from them as to when a fix is available and how we can get it (i have a desire on t-mobile as well). its been a good few days now though so i'm starting to lose hope.

there are so many little glitches with the facebook/twitter integration of htc sense. when you first get the phone you thin kit is amazing but then things start to break. i'm having big problems being able to get to my friends facebook albums through the "gallery" widget now as well... it just displays a facebook login page when i try which you can't actually use and never manages to retrieve anything from facebook. anyone know what is up with that ?

Just an idea but have you got Facebook for HTC Sense ticked under Settings, Accounts & Sync. Manage Accounts?
