This looks too good to be true given the prices of the posh Panasonic ones.

Product video:

Appallingly badly dubbed!
Anybody bought Silvercrest products before?

I know a couple of people who buy electricals from Lidl they swear by them and seeing them in their kitchens they do look OK.

I've had some silvercrest products and I swear at them.

Reviews look quite good.

Download the manual

(You have to make up answers to the little survey first!)

I think I may be tempted .....

You cant compare this to a panasonic just on price, not at all. Have you not read any reviews of other breadmakers? some breakdown really quick, some have poor or inconsistent results etc. The panasonic is popular for a reason.

Maybe so, but does it come with a 3 yr warranty as standard ?

That covers inconsistent results?

I have both a Panasonic and a Morphy Richards breadmaker and I find the MR one better. I can't find the paddle atm so am not using either.

I bought the Panasonic based on it's reviews. They were all good and I notice in last weeks Gadget show, it won hands down against the others.
I use it every 2 days and it has never baked a bad loaf.

The Lidl one may be okay but I am a firm believer in "you only get what you pay for" or "buy cheap buy twice".

I've just purchased this today, I currently have the Panasonic and have been very pleased with it, but this can do 2 things the Panasonic can't :

1. it makes normal shape loafs, the Panasonic loafs are too tall

2. it is a Jam maker as well and with 2 paddles is will save alot of stirring.

Will let you know how I get on

I have a morphy richards breadmaker, have done for over a year with no problems. It also makes jam in case anyone is interested, though i doubt i will use it for that.

We received one of these in a present and it really is a revelation, home made bread tastes great, well worth the money!

Our first Panasonic is well over 20 years old and is still in regular use - also have one of the newer ones that keeps the nuts and fruit whole.
Once bought one of those cheap ones because you could make jam and when working sounded like a tractor. Put it upstairs and it vibrated on the floor so it went to charity shop after a couple of weeks - sorry to whoever bought it.

Anyone got a verdict yet on the Lidl breadmaker? Is it too good to be true? Should I shell out for a Panasonic / Morphy Richards etc? I wasn't put off by the dubbing on the Lidl video . . .

Like a few others here, I have a Panasonic-. Model SD 2500 WXC http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_G...ljGr5XDqQLvpAe . I got it for Fathers' Day in June, and it suits me fine. Can do the simple stuff and some more exotic things.

So far no problems and the rersults have been consistent. I user it about every fortnight, and get recipes for baking from the online links, which are quite handy!

Good luck in your purchase!
