My favourite song of theirs is "Photobooth"!.... The lead singer also deserves some recognition for his dance moves!... He dances like nobody's watching even when he's in front of a massive crowd!

These are easily one of the most underrated bands in a long time, it sickens me that groups like The Wanted and JLS are doing so well whereas these guys are slogging there guts out to provide great music to the public and nobody is admiring them...

LONG LIVE FF.

oh dont tell me about it!

Friendly Fires, will definitely grow in awareness! sometimes ands dont hit it off right away with their debut albums, but i know Radio 1 will play them a lot and of course more airplay and awareness too!

They represent what is amazing in British Music! it IS Dance, It IS arty, it IS breathtaking. And the trio are so distinctive!

their last album went gold in the UK i think, but lets really hope it raises the bar for them with Pala this year keep spreading the word!!

Radio 1 support them a LOT - they must've played Jump In The Pool at least a thousand times since it came out (it actually got quite grating after hearing it almost every single day for so long). All their other singles were A-listed as well I think, and they've given them a lot of support other than just playing their songs too.

So that's one of the things I like about Radio 1, although it has to be said their obsession with their favourite acts does get tiresome after a while because they do tend to go ridiculously overboard with their love for those artists. So anyway I'm sure they'll continue to support Friendly Fires heavily throughout this new album.

yeah R1 pee me off, when they have their fave mainsream artists (usually post 2006!) and bash some others too!! and not allows for a more diverse spread of artists!

but they have supported their debut album and them as a band! just NOW i really want FF to get out there into the mainstream.

Them and The Naked & Famous are my fave bands NOW! they offer something really different to the mainstream! but it appeals across the board!

I am enjoying them as well... I was hoping they'd be BBC Sound of 2011 but it went to Jessie J unfortunately.

yeah, dont get me wrong i do love Jessie Js album! but i do feel that The Naked & Famous should have won it. Jessie had the attnetion anyway! while TN&F didnt, despite airplay! but their album is just immense! been played non stop (well almost) since i got it, not heard their EPs still yet!

i hope FF do glasto!

Well although Radio 1 do obviously play chart hits (being a mainstream station aimed mainly at 18-24 year olds), most of the acts they specifically go crazy about aren't necessarily aimed at the singles charts. Acts like Florence & The Machine, Pendulum, Ellie Goulding, Mumford & Sons (and a few others) are what I'd call 'Radio 1 Darlings'. They are CONSTANTLY playing their songs, raving about them, promoting them etc.

Which is good in a way because such acts don't all have the luxury of constant commercial radio airplay, big tv appearances and column inches that the likes of Cheryl Cole and JLS have. But after a while it gets annoying the way they blatantly favour them over other acts and basically shove them in the faces of their listeners every day - it's almost as if they think every single one of their listeners is a huge fan and no-one dislikes them. Not that I necessarily dislike those artists I mentioned before (I totally love Pendulum so I'm pleased Radio 1 do as well ) but for people who aren't fans of those acts it must get annoying (and it certainly does ).

Still though, Radio 1 are streets ahead of the direness of commercial radio, and probably always will be.

Ed Macfarlane screams sex. He is unbelievably hot.

Seen FF 3 times altogether: at Kentish Town Forum, Benicassim Festival and The Coronet. A great live band.

I will definitely listen to it several times on the streaming sites I use. I won't buy it without hearing it (I rarely do with many albums anyway) but I'm hopeful I will like it, even though I usually tend to go for more 'pop' stuff

Josh, have you ever heard of the Australian band Cut Copy? If you love Friendly Fires then I think you'll like CC too. They're more electronic and poppy than FF but have that same indie-dance thing going on. Check out their 'Zonoscope' album if you get the chance (if you have Spotify it should be on there) - it's my favourite album of this year so far
