Never liked Disco music. This is one of those bands that makes a mockery of Indie label really & why it's become a defunct tag.

Fair enough, and I agree with the fact I'm not a huge fan of disco music, but I think it all comes down to opinion. Personally, I think they're doing a great job, and in a music scene where there aren't that many new indie bands causing any hype, it's nice to see something slightly more dancey and original making it's mark. I do think it's something to watch out for in the summer, especially as they're changing their giving a new sound a shot

they are an Indie band who specialise in Alternative Dance sounds. And i am a massive Disco fan (ACTUAL Disco not any lame shite!) and Friendly Fires have this unique quality!

I dont see any misuse of Indie here. They have such an appeal and i am so glad that they are really grasping that success, they are fantastic live by the videos i have seen, I really want to see them.

Oh, and also APPRECIATION thread, dont put them down!

No wonder FF don't care about indie hipsters.

Hahaha what?! Before having a go at bands like FF, who try and further their sound, rather than sticking to indentikit Indie, have a go at bands such as that, like Kooks and Razorlight, who really make a mockery. There's no, and never has been such a musical genre as Indie anyway.

Anyway, listened to Pala for the first time today, really enjoying it so far, favourite tracks are Hurting, Show Me Lights, and True Love. Can see this working really well live, hopefully at a boiling Glasto, well not hopefully, definitely NME review confused me, saying this record was made more for inside, club playing, but to be honest, I think it's just as festival suited as the first record is.

Best tracks are Hurting, Show Me Lights, True Love and Chimes. Much better than I expected it to be.

May I also recommend Delphic to anyone who likes FF. A more guitar-y version.

I preordered my signed copy off play.com today

Just heard the track Hawaiian air off the new album - great song! Have a feeling there will definitely be no 2nd album difficulties here

Another vote for Delphic too! Great band!

Well, my first impressions are good, although I think it's one of those albums which I will probably need to play several times through before I properly take everything in. Not that that's a bad thing at all - some of my absolute favourite albums were like that.

That's probably just me though. I think you'll like Pala a lot, Josh

Hearing their recorded session on Radio 1 at Maida Vale. It's pretty good to hear them live, interesting to hear them speak about the album on a personal note too

No meh , fie and pah to your appreciations

but I'm quietly pleased that FF have brought out a new song that is almost as good as Paris. There seems to be a new style combining foreign rhythms in with retro influences from the 80s. I hope there is more of this standard to come from them this year.

Just watching them at Radio 1s Big Weekend, and I think they're usually awesome live, but Ed seems to have struggled with that chorus on Live Those Days Tonight. You can watch it here:

Ordered if today. I am a bit late on the uptake. Very excited to get though! I only got the first album last week, which is, by the way, amazing. Ahh. They are so not my type of music. My favourite three artists are Girls Aloud, Kylie and Brintey. It is just the may they infuse dance and indie in such a summery and euphoric way. Brilliance.
