How do I wash my dog without messing up the whole house?

Last time he ran around for five minutes and covered the whole place and myself in wet fur.

once you get him out of the bath, take him straight out into the garden to do his running & shaking bit

literally just run through the house & get him outside quick as possible, what we've always done with ours

wring him out in the bath as much as possible
and towel dry him as much as you can when he's outside

We used to do a joint effort, one of us would take the dog in the shower, the other would stand by with the towels.after drying as much as we could we would put the dog on a towel in front ot the fire. One of ours rather liked being dried with the hair dryer, the other was frightened of it . Any way you do itl there's bound to be a bit of hair, water and mess

I always found that it was only when I got my dogs head and face wet he did the shaking and splashing everywhere, just washing his body but avoiding his head and face seemed to work for me.
