At first my favourite was James Durban but i haven`t like him so much during the last few weeks. and at first i didn`t like Pia Toscano but now i think she`s amazing, plus she`s gorgeous.
Yeah, Haley - didn't see much in her during HW, found her diction awful and she crammed too much into each 90 seconds, however, I've started to really like her and really liked Benny ATJ, the studio version is rvery good.

Jacob and Pia were in my top 5 during the auditions, but they never lived up to my expectations.
Jacob's vocal gymnastics is begining to grate on me, especially in the past few weeks.
Pia, showed promise and I was looking forward to hear her sing in the live shows. But alas, ballads week after week and standing still through out her so called performances is leaving me cold.

Haley - loved her at Hollywood week (God Bless the Child), then wasn't keen on Fallin', but now she's by far my favourite. Easily one of the best vocalists in AI for a good while.
Quite liked Scotty in the beginning, but now he bores me to no end, to the point where every week it sounds the exact same.
I thought Lauren was hugely overrated, but after Candle in the Wind and her duet with Scotty, I quite like her now.

Not much. Thia's voice grew on me, and I gradually liked Naima less and less, but still respected her for daring to be different. My main focus from the guys was on James to begin with, but I'm leaning towards Stefano now, although they're still both my faves, it's more to do with how good S has been IMO than J doing anything wrong.
I've never liked Paul or Haley, I'm less certain each week of what Casey is doing there. He's talented, but not mainly as a singer.

To be honest, I disagree with the vast majority of your post, but agree about Casey. Ever since he did 'I Put a Spell On You' he's been poor. He had a slight redemption with 'Your Song' but I'm no longer a fan, and I'm not sure the judges should have saved him.
Lol most people do disagree with me re: Stefano and James. Can't quite see why, but Paul and Haley fans would say the same to me lol 
I would have saved the save for someone else. Would've been a bit cheeky to use it on Stefano as he was a wildcard anyway, although it didn't stop the judges saving Matt G lol. Not sure Pia, Lauren or Scotty would ever need it so I reckon I'd have used it on James - or Karen, if she'd lasted a couple more weeks.
Casey's a talented musician, but this is a competition for singers, not musicians. Even AGT would have been more suitable for him.
He's coming across as very Andrew Garcia to me - can't live up to his early promise because his voice isn't good enough lol

The only one who has probably changed in my mind is Scotty, I quite liked him during the Hollywood rounds but i've got pretty bored of his performances since.
Paul's gone down in my estimation as has Casey. Stefano and Haley have definitely gone up. Indifferent to the rest!

I don't think he's quite as bad as the jaw droppingly boring Andrew Garcia
but his voice lacks any sort of character to get it above being distinctly average, unfortunately his attempts to inject 'something' are his growls, which sound false and forced. You don't have to have the best range or technically perfect vocals to be a great singer, but you do need something to make you stand out and for me Casey lacks that. (and for what it's worth, so does James)
Casey probably has been more interesting than Andrew throughout the live shows, however I don't think his voice has sounded much better. I don't think the growls work for him or for Haley, and I don't think either of them have enough about them vocally aside from the growls. James does have more of a vocal range, and doesn't growl in an irritating way, but i do find Stefano's subtle vocal inflections more interesting. There's nothing forced about his voice, and I don't think James's voice sounds forced either, but his song choices don't always show it off very well.

Haley is incredible; one of, if not the best singer in the competition. Actually one of the best singers in a few years. She doesn't get compared to the legend that is Janis Joplin for nothing. She reminds me a bit of Christina too, like a Christina/Janis hybrid - perfection.
Paul gets compared to Rod Stewart, doesn't make him as good. To me, Haley's like a 2nd rate impersonator with poor diction, but if we all had the same opinions, there'd be no point in DS lol

Haley came into her own this week, as did Lauren to a lesser extent. I've always liked Scotty and still do. Pia and Stefano are as boring as I expected, though I like James away from performing I still find his performances annoying beyond words, Casey has grown on me while Paul and Jacob have started to grate.
Lauren hasn't been the shining star people (inc me) expected.
Casey's limitations as a singer are becoming apparent.
James has made the transition to public friendly artist. Likeable and with an energy that is good for the show.
Haley is definitely on the way up after a couple of weeks in the bottom three it seems that she now has a fan base, and I think her versatility has something to do with that. Also in her quiet way she's quite a charmer.
I always liked Pia but I didn't realise at first exactly how good she was. Now I'm gripped from her first note. Ok, so it's been big ballads, but she delivers them immaculately from start to finish and for fans of the human voice she is thrilling. In pure singing terms she is excellent, one of Idol's best ever, but yes, she needs to complete the package and display more versatility. I think she will and she should go on to win but of course the bible belt have another god-fearing nice boy to vote for in Scotty, so she can't do any better than second.

I always thought she was OK but I hate being told that I should I like someone (this is not aimed at you, OP! ) She sort of rolled her eyes on one of the weeks she was in the bottom three, suggesting she would be the one going home, and I don't think that shows much respect to voters.
I'm less impressed with Scotty. He is just a bit too cheesy but I think this is his age. When he is older I think he will be able to sing these country songs with more wisdom and sincerity that he just can't acheive now.

I don't think James is/was ever going to be anything other than a public-friendly artist. His "rock persona" is too contrived and at odds with the type of guy he clearly is (not too mention at odds with his too weak and thin voice).
The only transition I have seen is that as his performances have become more comfortable, they have become more cheesy.

I honestly think James doesn't really have a 'rock' voice - he's got a perfectly acceptable, but perfectly average voice - the rock persona is very stitched on, and he doesn't actually have to vocals to do what he wants to do.

Robbie Carrico. I expected him to make the finals actually, but I don't think he would ever have won. I think James is more of a rocker than Robbie was, but he's not a hard rocker, more of an indie rocker I reckon.
