Steady on. Allison Iraheta was compared to Janis Joplin on several occasions.

That's the lad, must admit once he started singing I didn't expect him to get anywhere near the finals - especially with wig rumours flying around and a boy band past

I think James wants to be a rocker, but it's all pose and posturing without the voice to back it up - I'd liken him to a kid in a bedroom singing along with Guns and Roses, pulling the poses in front of his mirror. It's sort of 'rock star by numbers' for me.

I do quite like the lad, but he, along with Casey, lack voices to do what they actually want them to do IMO

About the same (still love them):

Scotty
Jacob

A little more:

James (but he has to stop announcing 'here comes the screaming bit'
Hayley (but she nears to be a bit clearer with her diction)
Lauren (even though she looks a little awkward sometimes)

A 'smidgen' more:

Stefano (not a stand out but he isn't the worst)

A little less:

Paul
Casey (but last week he was great)
Pia

Scotty’s still my favourite.
Still like Haley and Lauren.
Don’t like Paul as much as I did.
Like Casey more than I did (when he sticks to what he’s good at doesn’t try to be anything he isn’t).
Like/dislike Jacob as much as before.
Still don’t like Pia, James or Stefano.

For all the comparrisons James gets with previous contestants In someways he reminds me most of Robbie Thingy from Season 7 - built up early show to be the 'rocker' that year, long hair (well, long hair rumoured to be a wig), bandana, rock star posing, and a voice that didn't fit at all, just a pleasant, okay singing voice - nothing more (although I'd have said Robbie had the better voice)”

Exactly. I couldn't remember what year that guy was in. I thought it was the previous one.

I agree Robbie had the better voice though equally unsuited to rock. If either Robbie or James have a rock voice so does my kitten.

You took all the words out of my mouth.

Robbie did get quite a bit of coverage and backing though, which is why I thought he might progress further than he did. The song he sang on the first live show, One Is The Loneliest Number, was a really weird song lol!

They'd both be better off with lighter songs, perhaps Maroon 5-ish, the Britpop style might work for them but being Britpop, it probably isn't popular in America lol

It was among the strangest choices I've seen, didn't compute at all with the image he was trying to sell - and it's an awful song in the first place, but to sing it basically straight, whilst attempting to look like Axl Rose was a weird sight.

I'd agree with the Maroon 5 etc comparison, there are songs that James's voice is more suited to, unfortunately he seems to be going down the more 'rawk' path, and is being encouraged to, and he's not really suited to it - it's been done before on Idol, and done a hell of a lot better, more authentically and with way better vocals.

They had a very limited number of songs to pick from during the early rounds of season 7 - leading girls to pick the same songs the guys had already used on a few occasions. That silly song shouldn't even have been on the list though, how's it going to showcase anyone's voxals?

I love Maoon 5 and reckon James would do well with a more rocky song by them, such as Wake Up Call or Harder To Breathe. Would love Srefano to try a lighter one such as She Will Be Loved too, and anything by Yhe Script

Amen to that
