Wanting to switch networks
Ocado

I have an O2 PAYG phone, and am thinking of switching to a Vodafone PAYG phone. Basically, my current O2 one is at least 6 to 7 years old and is starting to go wrong so need to get a new one. I have seen a Vodafone one for £10 and am debating whether to get it. A couple of questions though:

1. Are Vodafone a good network to be on? A friend was on them years ago and kept bitching about them being useless. Has that changed?

2. Can I keep my O2 PAYG number if I switched to Vodafone PAYG? Don't want to lose my number as it would take ages to remember a new number, but if I can't then it's not a massive problem.

Vodafone website doesn't want to load for me, in FF IE or Chrome. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, you can port a PAYG number. The process is the same as for a contract number.

I can't comment on how Vodafone are at the moment as I've been an O2 customer for the last 4 years.

I was on Vodafone prior to O2 though. The only reason I switched was because a close friend had just moved abroad and O2 charged considerably less for international text messages than Vodafone did at the time. (Although I suspect they probably charge around the same now.) Coverage and services wise I was happy with them though.

Thanks, that's helped make my mind up now. Will get the phone this week.

You shouldn't have any trouble porting, and in my experience the Vodafone network itself is rock solid.
(have been on Orange, O2 and now Vodafone)
The only thing I'd say is their customer service is sometimes a bit patchy, but none of the networks are brilliant in that respect.
