500MB, 500 texts, 100 minutes - £21.50 a month.

Is 500mb enough for a month for just using forums and general searching on the internet?

I can downgrade if I wish, but I want the internet on my phone.

I don't have Wifi as we're not on broadband either.

At the minute I have a fake Iphone from Hong Kong, so want to buy a new phone that is best for the internet?

Nothing to expensive. Can you suggest a good phone for the internet/using forums etc?

Thank you.

Same deal as myself, i go over the 500mb maybe once every three month, O2 just slow the net down a bit, nothing horrific.

As for phones, why not look on ebay see if there's a 3GS iPhone going cheap? I've seen a few go for under £100!

Thanks.

I hope I haven't shot myself in the foot because I've had to get rid of my unlimited texts to get this bolt on. They've given me 500 texts instead now, but I don't text much these days anyway. Bill is normally £15.50 now the added £6.00 for internet.

Anyone else got any phone suggestions?

I could ideally spend £200 on a phone, but don't want to. Something that will do the job nicely is fine.

Have a look at the likes of the htc range, there pretty good.

If 500mb ain't enough you can get 1gb for an extra £4.

I too give up my unlimited texts, I never send near 500 so it's fine

Ok thank you.

Look at the Iphones and they're too expensive.

I do have a fake Iphone in my house, but can't find charger or battery.

What about the Sony Erricson X8.

It has HSDPA. Looks like that is the best thing to have for internet.

See this link

If you're only going to be browsing then even 250MB will be fine for you - you can get the phone for £99 plus £20pm contract.

Next plan up is only £25 pm and free phone. If you're currently paying that just for your phone, this plan would work out at £3.50pm extra for getting a phone. Over 24 months that's £84.

Thanks, but I'm already tied into a contract so not getting another one.

I just need suggestions on phones to get. There's so many yet I don't know whether the browser on the phone will be any good, how it will look etc etc.

Your best bet is an Android phone. What kind of budget are you looking at. IMO for browsing, the larger the screen the better.

My budget is a maximum of £200, but much less if possible.

Just a phone that will do the job. Nice browser, easy to use/see etc.

I need the names of phones really because like I say I'm very clueless with this stuff.

thank you.

What about that?

I'm really not sure.

Ive found that sites such as Amazon will give you a good idea on whats out there, if you want to own the phone outright then you need a sim free or unlocked phone.

Ive used amazon to search for products within a prioce range, and then chose some phones within budget and research them online ( reviews etc) you will probably also find that amazon are not always the cheapest/best value, but as a sorting/review site it is quite handy.

What I'd like is some recommendations to phones that people have used or are using?

Try to research is hard because I don't really know what I'm looking for.

just got a HTC wildfire, a Android phone, i still have no idea why I did that as I normally just want a phone to be a phone.

Anyway it is a pretty good phone to be honest, not up to the HTC Desire standard, but then it cost a lot less.
i can do facebook stuff, access the net, play you tube videos.

My contract is with Vodafone, £25 a month 300mins voice, unlimited text and 500mb of data, plus the phone.

2 year contract mind you.

why do I do these things?

So the HTC Wildlife is easy to view forums like this one etc, and google?

That's what I want to know please.

and these contracts are awful. I wish I never signed my 24 month one because there's so much better deals out there now but there's nothing you can do about it.

My X8 is a great Android phone for internet.

Better screen resolution than Wildfire.

Now £89 payg on 3.

£5 data add on for 2GB a month on 3.

You'll need more than 500MB i find.

If I increased my budget and wanted to go for a phone for £300, what would be the best?

Whilst the HTC Wildlife seems a good phone, the resolution as mentioned in reviews puts me off. It also runs Android 2.1 when the latest out is 2.3 and going to be 3.0, so that is a concern.

T-mobile is not very good here, i know they use Orange coverage now as well, but that is not much better.
Also my credit is not that good so I would be surprised if T-mobile gave me a contract. The only way I got one with Vodafone was because i had a sim only contract for 12 months. Your internet is not unlimited, they may say it is, but you still got a 500mb limit.

I found some that was a bit cheaper than what I am paying, but not by much. It depends on what you want at the end of the day,

HTC Desire I think is a good choice. It's a bit old now so it's become cheaper but the screen size is decent and its internal are more than good enough to last a couple of years at least.

Again it depends on what you are going to use it for, the resolution seems fine to me, but then apart from my old BT windows based HTC phone it is the first smart phone I have owned.

Android 3 so I have heard is only going to be for tablets.
If you want to pay more then go for the HTC Desire, faster processor and better screen. You could get a second hand Iphone.

you want to buy a phone? The wildfire is not cheap, about £250 sim free. you may get a PAYG phone from your network provider cheaper and stick your sim into that.

3 got some good deals, just a shame the network is so naff. i added on another 250mb and I found I did not even use the first 250mb, I really must use it more to get my moneys worth

I'm going to go for a HD HTC Desire I think.

It will be unlocked and I'll just be putting my contract 02 sim in it.

I could get one off Ebay for just under £300 and least I'll be getting a good phone.

What do you guys think?

I think the screen is too big also battery life isn't good. Other then that its the same as my desire.
