Ok Cheers.

So if they remove the offending code will they then lift the ban?

If you bought the handset today. Then it wont effect you in any way. This is more true, if you decided to root your phone and put a custom ROM on it.

Samsung may appeal the ban, thus may start a long winded legal process. However I think it maybe easier to replace the photo suite (I believe the bone of contention is how you navigate from photo to photo i.e. the swiping). It maybe easier just to remove this and have a different method of moving from photo to photo.

Its probably to early to say. However I think in the short term there will a code change. As this will stop apple going after other companies with an android OS. Now that apple have won against Samsung, they will go after the likes of HTC, etc.

This news certainly wouldnt stop me from buying a samsung or any android phone.

How sad. Here's hoping that Google starts flexing some Motorola patents in Apple's direction and stops this nonsense.

Some excellent news from Samsung. Following the news yesterday about apple winning its case against Samsung, Samsung have issued a statement. It appears 9 of the 10 IPs apple filed for got thrown out. Apple only won one of the IP rights cited in the lawsuit. The one to do with the photo gallery.

This ruling is only against the Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy S 2 and Galaxy Ace. All 10 IPs were thrown out against the Samsung tablet.

Even better news, this ban wont come into affect until the 14th October. So if samsung send an update to remove/change the photo gallery app, then the ban wont take effect. This would seem the most likely action by Samsung.

It thus turns out that the big fuss made by Apple/media yesterday, was, once the ruling was analysed, a fuss about nothing really.

Yes it is said news, one of the reasons why I just like Apple. I am guessing Apple knew that a lot of the IPs will be thrown out. However by going to court, it does cast doubt in the mind of the consumers as to whether or not to buy a Samsung product. Hopefully most consumers wont have fallen for it.

All this has come about from Android taking a big chunk out of Apples phone and tablet market shares. Android has already taken 20% of the tablet share.

The ruling means that there will be no effect on the consumers who bought Samsung products. A quick update at some stage that changes the way pics are viewed will appear. Dependent on whether or not you use the stock application or not will depend on whether you actually notice anything....
I liked my iPhone when I had it and was not for or against any particular OS, however, I'm not liking Apple much as a company at the moment....

Sounds much better than the headlines.

But I don't quite like the thought of gesturing being non standard.
It's all based on common sense so alternative gestures will be a bit senseless.

Apparently Samsung are using footage from 2001:A Space Oddessy to point out that there's nothing original about the iPad's form factor. (They could also use Star Trek:TNG).

So they just need to point out that gestures and swipes were 'invented' for Minority Report, 5 years before the iPhone was released.

(Breaking News: Nothing original about Apple)

Mine is currently in for repair as during winter it started developing black lines on the screen which got worse the colder the phone became! Everything still worked to touch however it got more than a bit annoying!

Got mine still. Wouldn't swap it for any other phone out there right now... Might change in a couple of weeks

I still have my Desire HD...still a good phone. Still working well, with no problems with it at all. Obviously there is better out there, but not anything that tempted me. The S2 did come close though. Having bought my phone offline, I couldnt really justify getting a new phone so soon.

However I am waiting for the S3 to be released. Once I have read a few reviews, I will then decide on which phone to get...either the One X or the S3. The note for me is just too big.
