Some reports say the dual core phones are able to manage power better. So battery life will remain as we currently see or maybe a bit better.

Confirmed by Samsung UK!

Quote:
“SAMSUNG ANNOUNCES UK AVAILABILITY OF THE GALAXY S II

Samsung’s most powerful smartphone yet set to hit UK shores on 1st May

11th April 2011, London, UK – Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., today announces that its slimmest and lightest smartphone yet, the Samsung Galaxy S II (Model: GT-I9100), will be available in UK shops on 1st May 2011. The Galaxy S II is the first handset to offer Samsung’s Super AMOLED Plus screen technology, the largest, brightest and most colourful screen available in Samsung’s portfolio of devices.”

As said before 1st May is Sunday and 2nd May is a Bank Holiday so it won't be truly available until 3rd May, despite this excellent news! I'm saving up already!

The cheapest i've seen it simfree so far is Clove at £528.

It is certain to be the case with it being the same for Intel CPUs too.

Does anyone know what network it will be on first? It sounds like it might be Vodafone first, surprised there's no mention of O2 yet...

The press release says that "the Samsung Galaxy S II will be available in the UK across all major networks and retailers".

What about prices for contract with Vodafone? Does anyone have any idea what the cheapest deal will be?
So glad its finally been confirmed when its available! Something to look forward to now. I think its definately going to be the best phone available when its released.
I'm sure it will be available to pre-order too?

The Galaxy S2 is already available for pre-order. So far, all of the major networks have deals available except for Three (I tend not to count Virgin Mobile!)

is this going to be on Tmobile/Orange, it doesn't seem to be on their 'coming soon' page????

so it seems all the major networks are getting it, although anyone know why Tmobile are getting it a month later than the others?

Ok, so who here's genuinely getting the SGS2 sim-free from Phones4U on Wed 27th? According to them that's the date they'll have the phone in stock and ready to sell! Think CPW are doing the same too although i'm not sure which date they're selling the handset.

Definetely want to read some real reviews from the punters and not the tech websites.

has it been released anywhere in the world yet?

Has there been any in-depth reviews yet on this? As in one that looks at the battery life and such?

I have read a lot of reviews at XDA and the Android forums, and according to those that have the handset. Samsung has replaced the Wolfson DAC that was on the original Galaxy S, with a Yamaha DAC on the GS2 and apparently the sound on the new Galaxy S2 isn't as good as the original Galaxy.

I am yet to read something that has put me off this phone, so I'm pretty confident that I'll be ordering it when Vodafone website lets me. Sounds awesome. I am also tempted by the Sony Ericsson Arc, but prefer Samsung phones generally. Anyone else getting this phone?

Well me most definitely! This phone actually has me salivating! Generally not a fan of touchscreens but this looks to be the phone of the year.....if Vodafone's 12 month packages are competitive then I will sack off Orange to move to them.

I'm hearing that distributors have had their allocation cut by 85% - read into that what you will. I'm guessing either Samsung have had a production problem, or Phones4U have sold a lot more than they were expected to. It does mean that buying one SIM free might be difficult for a few weeks, even if you have a pre-order in place.
