Do I go with the iPad 2 which I already have several Apps for from my iPod Touch and I know will be high 'Apple' quality.
Or do I go with the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. It sounds better on paper with more connectivity, flash support and keyboard dock.
Can anyone advise?”
Why don't you do what I did - go along to PC World (John Lewis possibly) where they have the 'contenders' set up on display and working?
This is what I did (having previously played with the iPad 2 in Apple stores). After about 20 minutes I had narrowed it down to the Asus and Samsung and it was only reading the threads on here that swayed me towards the Transformer.
On thing I would say is that if you want to use a tablet to watch films then the iPad would be my last choice due to the aspect ratio of it's screen, it would be like watching on a non-widescreen TV.
The growth of Android is such that apps are developed for it routinely now, as they have been for the iPad.
The BBC iPlayer app works very well indeed and the Sky Go app is not far away I hear. As a book reader it's fine, but none of these devices are anywhere near as good as a Kindle in my view.
The keyboard dock wasn't available when I bought mine and initially I regretted that but don't really now as the only thing I now lack(that I would want) is the ability to use a standard size SD card.
It has 13GB free internal storage and I bought a 32GB micro SD card. It doesn't have 3G but I have a 3 Mifi modem or can tether my mobile to it, however the vast majority of the time it is on wi fi.
It is a matter of personal choice in the end, I don't have an agenda with Apple other than the fact that their products are a little to proprietary and overpriced for my taste.
