My favourite scene ever of this show was when Hyacinth was pretending that some stranger's house was hers and she had to keep low while passing the windows, and she was taking huge long strides while crouching down! I'm actually laughing now as I think of it!

I always wanted Richard and Liz to get it on.
My favourite episodes were the ones where Onslow and Richard got drunk

3 of us have a mutual "friend" we call The Bucket Woman and often laugh at her antics between us. She could have been the woman the series was based on. ![]()

I used to enjoy the programme but felt it had run its course.
Did anyone know that Clive Swift (Richard) is the father of the gardener Jo Swift (Gardeners World). Clive has an actor brother David Swift who used to be in Drop The Dead Donkey. |

Clive Swift played the Vicar in "Born and Bred" and in one episode his real life brother appeared as his not so likeable brother!

Does anyone think it would have been great to pair up The Major and Rose for an episode?!

I think Richard having an affair behind Hyacinth's back would have spiced it up.
If Patricia hadn't ended the show do you think it would have developed or stayed the same? Would there have been new characters? I think it's a shame they never properly ended it like Open All Hours should have ended with Arkwright and Granville getting married. |

Interestingly,Hyancinth's house was not in our town but in Binley Woods, and Onslow and Daisy's was in Stoke Aldermoor in Coventry.

I've been past Hyacinth's and Elizabeth's houses on Heather Road, Binley Woods several times. Thery're almost all unrecognisable now.

in the episode were the woman wants to marry daddy 'he asked for marriage'... her son and his friend (when they hide and sit on the stolen teles.) The FRIEND is also in the next series as the sales assistant when they look for cottages!
Anyone notice that Richard in series 4 is very rebellious and verbal about it... plus why are the major and the vicar barely in it! |

I would love to write a Rock and Chips style prequel to this set in the 1950s where a young Hyacinth brings Richard home for the first time to meet her family...
