Sound seemingly mixed with 'SEAWAVES'
As though an extra mic has been left on somehere
Anyone else?

If I remember rightly Stan you described this more fully in another post and it sounded as though I'm having the same intermittent problem with a new Panasonic TX-L37E30B.

If two people are having a conversation in HD then the pauses where you would normally get silence is filled with a sound, sometimes like waves on a beach, sometimes like heavy road traffic. The longer the pause, the louder the noise gets. As soon as someone speaks the noise goes. If someone pauses between words you can get the same effect.

Thinking that it was some automatic volume compensation gone a bit doolally I tried all manner of combinations of tweaks to the sound menu to eradicate it before giving up and contacting John Lewis. They contacted Panasonic who said it's a known problem, they have a software patch ready to go out - just waiting for a transmission slot.

I do hope that your trust in comments from Lewis's and Panasonic S2000 allow me to lift a veil of cynicism in the near future...
and rejoice with you when the rectification download happens.
I was told by Panasonic no other inputs on the audio but have not progressed with lewis's yet...
still wallpapering the wall
perhaps there are now a growing number of moans about the HD Audio... and it is a simple issue to remedy.
As a start of our joint venture..It would be useful to know to which traansmitter you are tuned ..
as I am tuning to the old CH31 on Crystal Palace which is known to be operating at reduced power at the moment.
Obviously i hope that you are at least 'Up North' to clarify that issue..
A have the identical tv as you.. but one size up.. as the Old plasma cost nowt but Leccy Bills for 7 years..
Last years equivalent best set of TV's from Panny had a chequered run..which i am hoping is not a prelude to more problems with the HD tuners this year.
They eventually.. seemingly.. Rebadged all the 'B' models as 'BA' models and removed the HD channels altogether..
Very recently in fact..
Certainly the Local Techie manager at our Lewiss's was less than happy that Panasonic denied this ..when i had a Manual pointing this out on his desk and a 'SHORN of HD' TV set as well!!. Hence my buying this newer model..
The USB hard drive recording is a Pig to operate.. but much is idyllic.. a bit like the Humax..
Please keep in touch as possibly others who have possibly been fobbed off will join in.
Just noticed there was an update a few minutes ago when i switched on.. then it vanished.. Was that it? I wonder?

After speaking with John Lewis and posting here I began to feel slightly edgy about this. What if the delightful sounding Susie had simply said to Panasonic that I had a problem with the sound? Panasonic may have replied about some fix they have for a problem I haven't discovered yet!

I find the Panasonic website a nightmare so instead I rang them this morning and described the problem in as much detail as I thought necessary for total unambiguity. Yes, they have a fix for exactly that problem. But Susie was not quite right in saying that they were simply waiting for a transmission slot, they're still testing. Current estimate is that it will be released within 3 weeks.

I'm tuned in to Sandy Heath from Leighton Buzzard. Half of people here go for that with others opting for Crystal Palace.

If you've noticed an update could it be that you have a DMR-BW880/780 or DMR-XW380? I see that there's an update currently running.

I haven't yet decided on an HDD machine. I've been looking at specs and reviews and feel I'm no further forward. I rather like the idea of matching the TV with a Panasonic HDD but over on the Radio and Telly forum it's Humax that gets the acclaim, Panasonic don't feature much. Your comment about recording being a pig concerns me a little - if I buy something that my wife can't operate I'm likely to come home and find my bags packed for me.
