I totally agree about James. His voice is too weak for rock, too lacking in character for anything heartfelt and generally too lacking in tunefulness to be much use to anything.

Pia finally did an uptempo song and made a Tina Turner song sound like Anthea Turner telling you how to set the table for dinner.

However, if all predictor sites are to be believed, James and Pia polled the second and third highest votes last night. I've little doubt that the conveniently on cue tears had something to do with one of those performances polling so highly.

He's obviously one of the faves, but last week he was on first, which could have put him at risk. I just reckon the crowds were because it was an Elvis song, to mimic the Elvis hysteria of his day. (Haven't seen the show yet unfortunately!)

Exactly It's why I much prefer Haley, she over uses the growl and sometimes throws everything her voice can do at a song when it's not needed, but there's some grit and soul there. She's interesting, and sadly Pia is anything but.

yes but i think the girls ran on spontaneously..they were Scotty fans..Nige may have authorised it ie allowed it but it wasnt set up pre show..they werent "planted" pre performance..cant see why NL would specifically want Scotty to win before anyone else.

He's their best bet for a big seller and they'll want one this year with the XF starting. The last two guys have underperformed big time, although Kris did have one big selling single and the last figures I saw put his album somewhere around 300,000, which is okay, but not great for someone coming off the back of Idol though - Lee's single and album sales have been dismal. The last two winners have also been outsold by the runners up, they won't want that again. Scotty can tap into a potentially huge market, where there's a definate gap for someone like him.

Whilst I don't think their pimping Scotty big time just yet, they simply don't need to I suspect he's winning the weekly vote easily, they will in the coming weeks. If James is challenging him in the vote then I'd expect him to get thrown under the bus somewhere around top 4.

The rock quota is already nicely taken care of with Cook, Lambert and Daughtry, they don't need or want another rock act, especially after Lee and Kris, but a young, male country singer - that'll do nicely.

Country is desperate for a young male artist, and AI has found him. Scotty will be HUGE in the Country Scene and will have longevity.
Scotty is the "chosen one", and I for one is happy about that
I am one of these ppl who HATES Country with a passion, but for some reason is drawn to Scotty's performances each week.
The only artist I have enjoyed in the past is Johnny Cash apart from him this genre bores me to tears.

I normally hate country too...and to be honest i didnt give Scotty much interest in the first few weeks because of that but i said this yesterday..country needs a young male solo artist..hey presto..
its hard to believe that voice is coming from a 17 year old body.
i too find myself liking him more and more now...he has that indefinable "something" without trying.
