FoxSat HDR Receiving Programme Info
Hi all,
When I enter the "Guide" on the remote control it normally takes around three minutes for it to receive programme information as it says in the top right and corner. Then the current channel will come visible transparent in the background. Whilst it's downloading it's very slow to navigate through the guide, if I also come out of it and go back into it, it will re-download all programme information again. You would think it would store the current one. I have found however a better way of getting into the guide by going into scedule on the remote and then pressing the red button to go into the guide listings table. Sometimes very annoying. |

Indeed, I think it needs more than just a tuner but the video processing stages also to extract the data.
Thus it never uses the other tuner to do it. Automan. |

In the last couple of days the time taken for this has massively increased on my box - from 30-40 seconds to several minutes. Perhaps Freesat have reduced the bitrate for this data? It would be okay if you could actually set series recordings when in this state, but you can't (at least on the beta firmware) as it makes you wait for all the data to be received, though one-off recordings by pressing the record button do get scheduled ok. Bit of a pain having to remember to go via the Schedule + press red route.

Infact at the moment it's failing to receive all the programme information. |

I'm having the same problem, it doesn't complete receiving programme info so therefore you always get the "waiting..." message if you try to record anything from the guide. I have the beta firmware, and if this is a by-product then I'm rolling back.

Yes, I tried it on my Humax HDR box and I gave up in the end.
One snag also with this type of EPG load is that every time they add an extra channel it gets slower. Plus I guess like the radio controlled atomic clock signal the box has to wait for the start code before it can start saving the data. If that is the case, that will also make the process take longer waiting for the start. Automan. |

Seen this before, suspect it may be related to the currently blank Men & Motors epg stalling the download of the new epg.
In the past initiating a freesat tune and simply not saving the results has fixed. If this does not work simply press schedule and then red to display the buffered epg which is constantly updated anyway Apart from after a factory reset that's the only way I ever get the epg.. |

I also found that with the new beta firmware that I was waiting for broadcast information. Though the posts above show ways round it. I also noticed that every so often it blanked everything that was on my schedule. I put that down to the automatic freesat tune at 3am in the morning. So I ended up going back onto the older firmware.

![]() Since the beta release to V 1.00.15 there has only been two recent minor changes to the freesat epg. |

Can you explain further, If you rebooted the box did your recording schedule reappear ? This is the first post I have seen that created this problem. I cannnot imagine how the retune which only happens if there is a change can be responsible

I've done a re-tune and it's solved my problem of the EPG not downloading the full data.

I use a programmable learning remote, not the original Humax remote. I've changed the "guide" button to have a macro of "schedule" and "red" as a work around. This means it works as it should with only one button press. I'm staying with the beta for the moment, but Humax need to be aware of this, which doesn't seem right to me.

Sadly, Humax being aware of something not being right and Humax correcting that something are two very different things.

Unfortunately I'm afraid you're right on that. BTW I have now done a Freesat tune as suggested by gazdee and confirm that seems to have fixed it for the moment. However do we now need to do a manual re-tune periodically to stop this happening again?

This has happened to me twice (not recently) and in each case putting the box in standby and turning it on again cured the problem.

I've noticed that today which is why I made my original post.
Infact at the moment it's failing to receive all the programme information. Heres what I want to know, it takes one tuner to download so why isnt the other tuner used to display the program in the background? It acts like a single tuner PVR when you press guide. |

I am also running the beta - for me the schedule takes 42 seconds to load - no problems at all. In fact to me the beta looks rock solid.

My box has gone very slow at the "Receiving Programme Information" on clicking on the 'Guide'.
I thought this was something to do with the new Beta that I installed ,... I havent tried a manual scan yet, but will, thanks for the information found above. Just so I can be clear, how quick should "Receiving Programme Information" happen? |

I'm thinking of doing this too. But then will my EPG ever get updated? Under what circumstances apart from pressing the "Guide" button does the EPG get updated?
