First of, sorry for the stupid thread title

From what i've read, not that many people are as fond of Jacob as I am, but i won't have it, so i'm making my first ever thread in his honour.

His voice is both powerful and velvety, beautifully soulful, he doesn't do too much gymnastics with it, he doesn't warble all over the place, he's progressed during the competition, all in all for me he's miles above the rest of the contestants.

Plus he seems to be an absolute doll.

I was shocked that he got to the bottom 3. I need him to be able to endure the likes of Lauren or The Durbinator.

Love him.

that is all

Jacob should come 2nd in this competition imo.

I think he is fantastic, moments of Luther and I had no problem with his wiggly hip/pelvis thrusts, nice to see a big guy move!

He became my favourite a month ago, and I consider his Motown performance to be this season's standout, of the order of Siobhan's Paint It Black last year and Adam's Ring Of Fire before that. He's the only one from this season whose professional recordings would be of any interest to me.

I do like my old skool R&B, and there is a little Luther there, but probably more Freddie Jackson, and a bit of Will Downing on the deeper end. But essentially Jacob is an original; he has his own sound.

He's not perfect, and can lack control, but he makes for a very dynamic and energised performer. There's a danger about him, because he is so full-on, so vocally ambitious, and it makes for compelling viewing - will he pull it off each week? I don't expect him to win, but if he sticks around a little longer he should hopefully benefit from the extra exposure and get a single album deal.

I like him as a person, he seems very sweet and tactile, and I love his surname, which sounds like a fragrance for men. From musk to Lusk.

that's exactly why he's won me over even though he wasn't my favourite right from the start : he's learned to not go full-on ALL the time and to harness his big monster voice. He's progressed through the weeks and is becoming better and better. Power is definitely not everything, and he's got so much sensibility and musicality it's unreal. His soft little vibrato reminds me of Antony Hegarty. Rich deep soulful velvet voice ... I just love him
Plus, he can be very naturally entertaining onstage. I agree that "you're all i need to get by" was phenomenal, not only vocally but he had fun with the crowd too.

Ok I'm done gushing now

He doesn't lack control at all. He has the best control of all of them. Ho just doesn't know when to stop with the runs but those runs are not uncontrolled.

I like him, but he can have too many Jacob Moments for my liking. He has such a powerful voice, but to use it all the time dilutes it's effect.

He's far too pleased with himself for my liking.

Yes, I can definitely hear some of Hegarty in elements of Jacob's voice! There's that same floaty, supernatural, almost human theremin quality.

No. Not good singing at all. Screeching yes but not singing.
Is definitely not worthy of winning the show. I don't see why America is voting for him to be honest. Same as James who just shouts and doesn't SING. Pia is far better than both and yet they remain on the show.

Jacob has to go. Well 6 have to as there really are only two people worthy of the title now. Scotty and Lauren are the best singers left and that SHOULD be the top 2.

Got to support this thread. I'm not really invested in any of them, but I want entertainment & drama. Jacob entertains, & the further he goes the more drama, because he has a lot of detractors out there. I think this week he changed the song to "Man in the Mirror" at the last minute, but it was too late to change the pelvic thrust choreography which should have actually gone with 'Let's Get It on". So it ended up like "Let's Get It On In The Mirror".

Jacob is my favorite - he has a really unique quality to his voice and I like his style of singing.

I don't think he will win but I hope he lasts a few more weeks.

I don't know what was going on with the voting this week, with both Jacob and Pia in the bottom three - they are by far the best singers in the competition this year.

I also like James and Lauren, and Haley is growing on me too. I wasn't keen on her to start with but she is getting better.

I hope Jacob didn't put too many people off him with his comment about people 'looking at themselves in the mirror'. That was quite an arrogant thing to say.

One of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. Love watching him. Love his sweet nature too.

The rest are getting on my nerves.

I really think that's what put him in the bottom 3, as the performance was fine, and having the actual songwriter sing with him should have been the icing on the cake, "curse of first" notwithstanding...

If anyone remembers Mandisa from season 5 of AI, she was eliminated the week after she performed Mary Mary's "Shackles (Praise You)" and preceded it with a "God" speech which many at the time took to be anti-gay... not that Jacob's speech was anti-gay () but the voters don't like to be preached to!

I haven't warmed to Jacob yet. I think I need to see him do something i'm not expecting. His facial expressions put me off.

Arrogance isn't becoming in a competition, unless it's the heavyweight boxing championship of the world or a WWF fight. Then you can be full of yourself, even float like a butterfly, and everyone will love you for it. Amateur singers are expected to show some humility, have a lot of learning to do, and be coached towards excellence at series end by professionals who have already made it.

Jacob did himself no favours with his comment. Stefano has also come across as arrogant in his inability to take criticism, and the perceived friction there's been on the VTs with the producer, which they've now had Ryan address on air. I think arrogance was possibly an element of Pia's downfall too, because she had a certain cockiness about her when standing there belting out every song from behind immaculate makeup, thinking she could breeze through it all, even River Deep Mountain High. She always seemed to be rather pleased with herself, rather than performing for and connecting with an audience.

Lol that was why I disliked the grown woman wearing the prom dress on the girls top 12 night. can't remember her name. o yeah, julie. she was just too polished and looked like she cared more about looking like a perfect princess than picking a song that wasn't totally hideous for her. Pia's makeup was distractingly slick, however, I never got the feeling she was smug.

I was wondering if they would mention the "uncalled for comment incident" this week, and none other than Jimmy "don't dude me" Iovine gave Jacob his little speech.
He looked like a sorry puppy, and went on with that overplayed song they gave him. i know it's a legendary song and all, but I was looking forward to hear him sing "you'll never walk alone"

I can't stand Jacob's nasally voice or his cheesy and sometimes painful looking facial expressions.

The hideous hip thursting and very camp bouncing from side to side totally killed Man in the Mirror and I can never hear Bridge Over Troubled Water in the context of a talent show now without remembering Rhydian's performance.

Prom dresses are very fashionable at the moment, regardless of age (well, within reason).

The make-up artist deserves an award. I'm not trying to be mean but he/she turned a girl who at audition, HW and in the VTs always looked rather potato-nosed and cross-eyed into a stunner every week.

Just reminds me how good Rhydian really was/ is. When Jacob gets such high praises, like from Randy with this kind of murdering, he would have probably shitted bricks from awe if he had heard Rhydian on this.

I wasn't watching XF the season when Rhydian was on so I watched it on YT, and all i can say is I'm not a fan of pseudo-opera voices (at all), it just sounds pompous when singing pop/rock and it's not good enough for classical.

Anyway this song puts me to sleep but Jacob did a good job with it.

I think poor Randy dare not be honest any more in this series for fear of humiliation from the mouth and the butt.

I think I'll pay more heed to the opinions of those who put him among the nominees for a classical Brit.

Also funny that Jacob was picking besides 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'You Never Walk Alone', and 'Impossible Dream', all sung by Rhydian in XF. Quite a coincidence.

Not perfect tonight, but still my favourite performance. I think he's here for another week at least.
