Is it a coincidence, or are the repeat dialing young females at it again, not connecting with, or being jealous of any female singer, and instead lusting after any youngish male with a pulse?

With regard to the original reason for this thread, I think five women going in a row is also to do with who they picked.
Ashthon was boring, too much attitude, and her voice was not as good as everyone thought. She did have a Diana Ross edge - in that she seemed so old fashioned. Not really her fault, they wanted her to do diana ross.
Naima was rarely in tune. An interesting performer though, I believe if she was a better singer she would still be there. So I can see why she didn't get the votes.
Thia had no spark. Admittedly, a cute guy with no spark might have lasted a bit longer but even so, I can see why she went last week. If she wanted it more, and was prepared to give more to the audience, she would still be there. She seemed popular in polls before the lives. I don't understand how someone can be so determined to be a singer and yet not see the need to put on a show (I don't mean over the top theatrics, I mean a compelling performance).
Pia and was unlucky to go when she did. Yes, she didn't move much, but she isn't used to that sort of thing and wasn't given a chance to improve. Overall it was still a good performance, expectations were just too high,
I also thought Karen would do better than she did, but I found her really dated, especially when she did her Selena tribute. She seemed older than her years.

So I supposed what I'm saying is, there are reasons for them to go, it's not completely ridiculous, but that doesn't really address whether there were more reasons for the boys to go.

I think it's coincidental. However, Casey did receive the least votes two weeks ago and I thought the judges were wrong to keep him.

With the possible exception of Naima, the girls who have been eliminated so far have deserved it. No surprise.

Regardless of whether the girls individually deserved to leave, it's hard to square that with Stefano and Paul staying.

Both have been in the bottom 3, but have managed to scrape through, Stefano repeatedly so. Their lifelines may suggest something else is at play. Possibly one will be considered "ded fit" and the other is seen as having nice teeth and messed-up "bedroom hair". If enough admiring young females repeat dial for them each week they will prevail.

Wasn't it supposed to be a double elimination?

Haley has also been in the B3.

The girls that have gone so far have all been one and the same (with the exception of Naima who was just a bad singer)... They were all dated balladeer types. None of them had a specific niche or genre that they really slotted into... The two girls that remain are both reasonably good vocalists but what they also have is a very defined slot into which they fit... Haley is the bluesy growler and Lauren is the crossover country girl... If you think of the girls who have lasted in the more recent series you have Crystal the flower child folk rock girl and Allison the power house rocker, both with very clear, defined positions in the competition... Perhaps America is concerned with more than just a good vocal? Maybe they like to know what they're gonna get from someone and that something that they want is not balladeer after balladeer on stage one after the next?

I would agree with everything you've posted, but it still doesn't explain why the Stefano's and Paul's of this world prevail over the girls.

It often seems to be the case that a string of females go first, and even more so (in X Factor), girl bands.

I'm still in an AI rage! I can't believe she was bumped! I had her pegged as the winner, if not at *least* final three.

Don't get it at all. Gutted they couldn't save her, I thought she was awesome.

All the guys could win this years, possibly bar Stefano.

On vocal talent, Stefano should have a better chance of winning than Paul - although despite being a fan, I know he won't. He still shouldn't be blamed for Pia's exit though.

It's actually a shame that Pia, Karen and Ashthon, who had potential that they were ready to fulfil, didn't outlast Haley, who I don't get att all - let alone some of the guys. Thia wasn't ready to hit the big time, and Naima's voice wasn't consistent enough.

Loved Lauren Turner, what with all the girls seeming so unpopular, how could she not have made it through? She could do what Haley's trying to do, a hell of a lot better. She just didn't look so glamorous.

I do like Lauren Alaina too, and reckon she'll be around for a while yet. We'll lose a few guys before we lose her.


Also, I wouldn't have bothered saving Casey. I may have considered Karen, but it would've beena bit early for the save when she polled the lowest votes. Pia would have deserved it much more than Casey. I may have another contestant in mind too, but the American public and most of DS would not be impressed lol

You and me seem completely of one mind on AI this year, completely agree with all of the above. I can't remember a time when someone so talented got kicked out so early as Pia and I knew at the time that the judges would regret saving 'style over substance' Casey.

Like you I really rate Stefano and in no way should he be blamed for Pia going. But as usual we seem to have a surfeit of male singers some of which (Casey, Paul in particular) don't deserve to be there IMHO.

Hayley has no chance of winning so it's down to Lauren to represent the females - I reckon it's her, Scotty and James for the final three

I still haven't watched the it yet or the results but I was shocked when I came on this website and saw Pia's picture. I'd never had thought it was here who had been evicted. I fond her a bit boring, I don't know what it is but I just couldn't get into her. I don't mind her doing ballads every week, just something about her didn't stand out.

I'm really happy Stefano's in. I think he's really underrated in here. He always sings well. I wish they gave him better songs sometimes though. Last week he would have killed 'Your Song' or 'Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word'. I kinda feel that who ever had got 'Your Song' would've stayed in, and because the judges saved Casey there's no way they could have him bottom two again so I bet that why he got that song. I could be wrong but that's just what I think.
