Russell Brand - What was the point?

What was the point in having Russell Brand on the show, apart from massaging his ego?

I don't usually like him but he was quite amusing. When he's not being over the top vulgar he can be entertaining

The same reason why katy perry was on XF : promo.

He looked weird without his eye makeup

I liked Russell sat at the judges' desk - if they ever need another outspoken Brit he'd make for a good addition.

He seemed charmingly tame compared to some of the risqué humour included in that TMZ video, especially the bit about what else besides spit a jailed man could use to spike his hair so that he looks his best in a celebrity mug shot. Maybe I have a dertee mind, but I don't think they meant wee wee.

Russell was on Ryan's radio show this week, plus the premier for his new film, Arthur, was in LA, so I imagine Ryan suggested he come to the studios to meet the kids.

The guy has loads of charisma, so I would imagine that was the reason he was asked, to give the kids some tips and advice.

I'm a huge Russell fan and ordinarily can see why they'd think it would be a fun idea and it should have worked. Must admit that although he ran with it, he didn't seem his usual relaxed self, presumably because he was still emerging from all the less than complimentary critiques and reviews of his performance in Arthur, the night before. I'm still going to see it though!

I agree. Surprised to see him there but liked his 'performance'.

I used to enjoy him when he was first on BBBM but he just got so disgusting he wasn't funny any more.

just an unsubtle corporate plug.... but having said that his appearance was still more relevant that that of the ubiquitous WillIAM or whatever the self-regarding cretin calls himself.

Really stupid idea to drag him onto AI. He's such an idiot. I suspect he needed the publicity. He had nothing to add. Totally lame.

Will.i.am talks rubbish but he's absolutely gorgeous. I just turned the sound down and drooled.
