"I have read a number of comments (on DS and elsewhere) about Syco "palming Matt off" or "cutting their losses" by selling the 50% interest to Columbia. I don't know why made the approach (my guess would be Chris Briggs was instrumental) but the most important fact is that a small label like Syco has no power to palm anything off on Columbia - they don't sign acts that they don't want and they very rarely sign acts they don't see a long term future for - there are other Sonny labels that do that - which means they see something in Matt - the fact that it didn't happen straight away means (at least to me) they have taken the time to look at his potential (perhaps even the sketches he has produced for the album) and they think he's worth the investment. It's inevitable that Cher and 1D in particular are going to be compared to him - but whether they are successful or not really has no bearing on whether he is".


Just quoting Wkd from the last house - just to say that I echo everything you say Wkd. That is exactly how I feel about the whole Columbia thing.

Also - let's be all grown up about the Cher and 1D thing. I know I can be competitive for him (hence buying poster on Thursday) - but the X Factor is now at an end. They are artists of very different kinds with very different fanbases - a little bit of crossover to an extent due to the X Factor history, but it is no longer a competition, it's about becoming serious artists who produce music that people will want to buy because it is good.

All 3 have been handed the golden opportunity of their lives and I wish them all well.

Just on a different note - I am sorry to hear about your grandmother Wkd - we had a similar family event last year, so I know how you feel.

WOWEE! Matt's group of friends are a very talented and varied bunch aren't they? I'm afraid I wouldn't fit in what with being utterly terrified of heights and planes
Funny how life works out for people - Richard obviously has the flying thing in his genes, so playing piano with Darwyn wasn't the be all and end all for him.
As Matt and Ali say - He fly, he pilot.

Hi guys!

I feel bad, like I've neglected the Cardle I tried to type up a lengthy report of my X Factor tour experience but DS crashed and I gave up on the Matt AT. But it's a new home and I've got exam stress and I've become embroiled in a heavy maths debate on DS:GD so I thought I'd come here to relax.
