I think everyone has to put the same phrase, e.g. #happybirthdaymattcardle (with the hash key in front). Then if enough people do it it trends. I think. I'm sure one of the big twitter followers (Teamcardle?) will sort something out.

With regard to the Columbia deal. That was done(imo) for one reason & one reason only.....America.
XL pulled exactly the same deal with Adele & look what Columbia have done with her in the US

Everyone - men, women and kids were on their feet dancing. It's an incredibly hard song to sing live - but he nailed it. His voice is incredible - so strong and yet such musicality in it.

Firework finished and he talked to us whilst getting his guitar on for NIWS. This is my only criticism of the set. After the uplifting feature of "Firework" I think it's a mistake to tone it down straight away with a ballad. I would have preferred "YGTL" - it would have kept us moving. Having said that, his performance was wonderful and hit the notes incredibly.

Onto JTWTA and the bridge. I love this song and I love it even more now. The opening note was spine-tingling and people were singing along word for word. Now for research purposes I pulled my binoculars out to get a better view when he was on the bridge.- since that was when he was facing me full on. What a beautiful guy - and the mighty cardulge was there for all to observe if they were interested. My daughter was curious as to why they had come out at that point - but kids are easily fobbed off so that was ok.

Again - how do you keep repeating that he was spine-tingling, note perfect etc without sounding boring. And the crowd were just lapping him up.

Off the bridge and onto the small stage for FTEISYF. The crowd quietened in anticipation and he started. It was beautiful, stunning, breath-taking. I felt a tear welling up and I had to choke it back, cos I didn't want to look too ridiculous in front of my children. It was the most moving live performance I have ever seen.

Finally WWC. He did the little speech about the best Xmas present etc and we were off again - singing, swaying and dancing. We waved our glow sticks and son pointed his foamy finger. When he finished the crowd started stamping their feet (the floor beneath me was vibrating in an alarming way) and there were calls for more. He didn't encore though as it was time for "Heroes".

The group song was good - didn't spot any Maiden moments though. And then it was over...........we left and discussed the show. We all decided that although Wagner and Mary had their own crowd in tonight, and 1D certainly had a fair number of supporters (just fewer than I expected) it is Matt who unreservedly was the act that the vast majority were there for. And deservedly so - I can't believe that he will not emerge as a major star in the next 12 months - only time will tell - but if Cardiff is anything to go by he already has a large fanbase to build on.

Yep Columbia have done a great job with Adele in the US.

I do remember someone posted a link with an article about how they went about promoting her over there.

It was posted at around the time Matt's joint deal was announced????
