She opened with huge sales (352k) & she has sold a million albums (platinum) in just seven weeks (4 weeks at #1)This resulted in her previous underselling album going Platinum as well
Her upcoming US tour has sold outso quickly that they have had to rebook to much larger venues

WKD my condolences here. My grandpa died at the age of 82 and to my surprise I was still crying for it several months later. I was never close to him, but family is family and it hurts when you realize you're never going to see them again. If something can ease the pain it is to know that they were loved and will be remembered.


He also kept a straight face throughout The Ballad of Maiden.

Not to be a complete spoil sport but Adele is signed to a label (not too sure which one) and then has a deal with the US branch of Columbia (rather than the uk one) for US releases. KInda similar to Leona with syco for the uk and J for the US and I think Alex has a US label?(not too sure though).

So I think at the moment, since he's with Columbia UK, he's aiming at the Uk (and hopefully European) market and then if that does well who knows?
But I think he'd probably sign another deal with a US label when that time comes.
Actually getting so excited for the album, keep forgetting I'm gonna have to wait!!

Wouldn't worry too much about it, if Dan Wooton is the source it might only be something small.
The other week he named the celebs he'd be talking about and Aiden was one of them but it was only a couple of lines in his column.

I think of course we should remain positive in an appreciation thread, especially about the thing the thread is in appreciation of, but we can also give some constructive criticism I think. When I want to say something negative I usually disguise it with gentle ribbing and keeping it light-hearted.

Not getting all moral about it, I'm just babbling as usual.

It would be great if everyone with Twitter could trend for Matt on his birthday. I hope TeamMattCardle and some of the other Matt fanpages on twitter will co-ordinate for this to happen at a certain time. The Aiden supporters are really great at trending for him on a regular basis.

How predictable?…..and how disappointing, no responses to my last post about double standards….shame. I thought it was quite thought provoking.

Hi Chosen - I hope you enjoyed your trip to the UK - it wasn’t until after you’d logged off for your jaunt around Cheshire on the canal boat that I realised I could have given you some pub recommendations - there is one really good one, off the top of my head, on the canal, the The Sutton Arms - don’t know if you managed to get there? Oh you have lots of interesting posts to read up on…..lol.

I know some posters are away for the weekend, so thought I’d bring over my post from last night just in case anyone misses it (LOL)…....you know, as a bit of decoration for the new house……but don't know how to bring it over from the other thread....anyone willing to, I'd be very grateful. No?OK... I’m happy for you to put it out the way in the attic with a dust sheet over it if you don’t think there’s a suitable place for it in the new home....

Oh,.and clearly, must reiterate, nothing I have ever said refers to “everyone” despite certain attempts to give that impression (*cough foxy*).

Pity the original posts are gone, threaders have been patronised and deprived the opportunity to make their own minds up - oh well, no one seems to mind. Whoever alerted the moderators clearly thought they were acting in everyone’s interests. …..can only assume that what I posted hit a nerve….a case of the Matt-cap fitting a little too snuggly perhaps? LOL. No-one was spoken about that does not have access to the thread to speak for themselves; seems ok, however for threaders to post less-than-savoury stuff about people they’ve never met before, who do not post here, without compunction…Wagner’s a perv; Grace Woodward is an attention seeker riding Matt‘s coattails, jorjarr is an irrating stalker, Mrs Tapster ?, spammy Matt fans are just the pits, Katie Waissel ?….etc etc etc. We’ve all got and given our opinions....some of them aren't "constructive" or "positive" either.

What a weird state of affairs: criticisms of Matt seem to be more acceptable on his Appreciation Thread than criticisms/observations regarding Ali or indeed posters’ utterances/behaviours. Don’t get it?! Odd.

I’ll leave it there because I’m beginning to sound pissed off…..which of course I am! I’d be the first one to say, that, in the wider scheme of things, what goes on here is a trifle….a diversion and a bit of fun…..but, frankly, this affair has left a bad taste and given me a mighty dose of disappointment. Slap my face: PERSPECTIVE….lol

Re: Columbia - I agree, Matt hasn’t been “palmed” off; they have a stable of quality, respected artists, so all bodes well. It’s ticked a much needed kudos box , for sure. Columbia have plenty of experience in guiding and promoting artists of Matt’s ilk….though have they ever taken a “talent” show winner under their wing before?….I don’t know enough about the company, I’m afraid. What I will find of great interest is observing how they promote and market Matt….they must be confident that they can establish him as a serious artists and transcend the cheesy XF rep. I suppose if they’ve never taken on anyone with Matt’s baggage before, they’ll be on a bit of a learning curve too? Though, I suppose, they have some of the best in the business working for them, in terms of marketing/PR etc so he‘ll be in safe hands (we hope!) ……(having said, that, however, Matt is already no stranger to the machinations of PR).

I hope that what BB has said (hi there!) regarding America comes to fruition….it certainly makes sense. Of course, in the US there will not be the XF “stigma” hurdle to overcome; in that regard I hope SC’s launch of XFUS is successful - possibly it will reflect well on Matt. Possibly it will have no bearing whatsoever!?

Off to join the cohort of lurkers so wont be posting until there is some proper news in the offing or, of course, I spy something that is so butt-clenchingly embarrassing, my fingers start auto-typing. LOL. Any how, from my pov, things have turned out to be a bit of a disappointment - it’s just chat and opinion - no biggie in the great scheme of things but if what I‘ve posted has caused real “upset“ then I sincerely apologise …but I‘ve always treated the MAT as a place for a bit of a laugh and where anything Matt-related was fair game for discussion and comment....as long as that discussion does not demean Matt.

Posters come and posters go…..and sometimes come back again…..here’s hoping that Matt gets a fair crap of the whip and is around for the long haul.
