Not unless another band do the same tour for 3 years.

This is massive for them - still very much relevent after 30 years in the business.

The Rolling Stones, Madonna and U2 themselves again are the only people who could break this record right now.

Taken from that website:

When the doors open Sunday night for U2's second show at Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the band's 360 tour will become the highest grossing tour in history.

In Sao Paulo, U2 360 will pass the $558 million gross mark set by the Rolling Stones for their A Bigger Bang tour of 2005-2007. U2 will go on to shatter the record at about $700 million by the time it wraps in North America July 30 at Magnetic Hill in Moncton, N.B., and when all the numbers come in be recorded in Billboard Boxscore as the biggest trek ever. The tour returns to North America May 21 in Denver.
$700 million eh? Maybe Bono and the boys can give half of that to charity instead of asking us to 'donate generously' any chance he gets!

They may still be relevant, but Bono's voice is really not very good live anymore. Saw them last month in South Africa. Show was pretty impressive though!!

From the opening paragraph:

U2 360 will pass the $558 million gross mark set by the Rolling Stones for their A Bigger Bang tour of 2005-2007.

The opening 360 show was in Barcelona on June 30th 2009 and the final date will be on July 30th 2011 so they achieved their record in just over two years.

It's an amazing achievement and well deserved.
