I think the real GaGa backlash will come with the album after next. By then she will have been in the public eye for for around 5 years and naturally the casual music fan will be latching onto whatever shiny new popstar is on the scene (we are a funny species that seems to prefer bright new trinkets over old faithfuls). The media will turn on her more and more in an attempt to bring her down, twisiting everything into a negative, I'm sure her sales will settle down to whatever will be her norm, but the media will always compare them to The Fame's sale, even though every artist sees a drop in sales from their first album and subsequent ones.

But GaGa's saving grace is that she is an excellent songwriter of pop songs and as long as the material is good she will sell! Britney made a point when the media started turning on her at 19 that she didn't care what they wrote about her because as long as she was coming out with good pop songs her music would sell! That is why GaGa is here to stay, the fact the public are still interested in her and there hasn't be a backlash yet is not a sign of future success, they should still be interested in her, this is only her 2nd album. If she couldn't hold their attention for 2 albums she would be in serious trouble!

I do think Gaga has a potential edge over any future competition, because in many ways she is unlike any new pop artist we've seen in the mainstream for a long long time, so unless someone truly extraordinary suddenly turns up and makes the same sort of impact the Lady herself has done over the last few years, I don't really think she'll be 'threatened' (for want of a better word) as long as she keeps her own game up. Like you said - she has the talent and songwriting ability to back up her current fame.

As an example of another 'of the moment' popstar, obviously Jessie J has been massively hyped everywhere as the next big thing this year, but - and this is just my opinion - she just seems to be a fad who doesn't have the quality to back up all the hype. Obviously she's huge right now, but that's because the hype machine i.e. the critics, bloggers and her record label, basically decided that she was going to be huge no matter what. I can't see her lasting unless her music dramatically improves fast.

Anyway, that's a whole other topic and I could go on for hours (as I already have lol), but basically what I'm saying is I don't think it will be enough simply for another new hyped popstar to suddenly come along and become one of the biggest stars in the world to take over from where Lady Gaga is now - not that every popstar has to be in competition all the time anyway (obviously), but you get what I mean. It could easily happen of course, but it would take someone really special, with a lot of luck on their side.

In fairness, Britney fans were saying this in 2004, but she went batshit crazy, Madonna fans were saying that in 1989, but then she did Erotica, Prince fans were saying this in 1985, but then he did ''The Artist Formerly Known As...'', etc. You can't predict anything. The next one doesn't have to be more talented, they just have to be more successful, or beautiful, or media savvy, or whatever.

The horrible thing is, people say Little Monsters are crazy now - just wait until she's not the big girl in the playground anymore. It's the same thing with Britney fans now. Many can't accept that there's someone bigger than her now, hence all the bitchiness. And again, same with Madonna fans when Britney was much bigger at the start of the last decade.

It's the Music food chain, and not just Pop. Lady GaGa isn't a victim here - far from it - she's just another in a long line of musicians that are huge now, but will become less successful as the years go on. It's not because she'll be shit or old, it's because she won't have as many casual fans. People will be used to ''The Lady GaGa Sound'', and just won't be interested.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't wait for GaGaVision #42. I loved the last one, this should be good.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Judas in a week! So excited!I hope she fires the choreographer though.
I think after Judas, she should stop the ''Tribute'' thing. There's only so long she can play that card, and people are already getting sick of it.
But hopefully the song will be awesome anyway.

The "tribute" thing.

Americano is "about immigration law and gay marriage and all sorts of things that have to do with disenfranchised communities in America"

What's that got to do with Lady GaGa?
Do they have music videos about it?
Do they wear Madonna-like outfits?

I honestly didn't know! I thought you were trying to be sarcastic about some Latin-American equality group being ripped off by GaGa.

Apparently you get a rejection one too, so maybe they haven't done it and their FB/Twitter person is a liar.
