It was done then backed out for a hole new approach to Re-create AutoFill for fx5.
e.g. Type "BBC sport" into the bar and press enter, Firefox searches Google in the background and takes you directly to the 'I'm feeling lucky' result. This was the default behaviour in FF3.6, whereas FF4 takes you to the search results instead. |

The thing is plugins can use their own web services to do anything they like and when making a HTTP request from a browser session will have all the cookies with it. How can you protect against that?

Can someone please post a link to a reliable FF3 download site.
I restored my system back to its factory settings, downloaded FF4 and have spent hours trying to import my favourites. I'm just fed up with the whole thing, and all the download sites I've looked at don't seem to have FF3. |

FF5 is now available The links they have used on the page link to version 4 when you click them but if you copy the link text and change the version number from 4.0 to 5.0 it is valid and the download will start.
I am running it now. |

And changing the link text from US to GB to get the British version works as well.
It seems to load quicker and pages seem to load quicker as well. |

Not had that problem with Iron, all Chrome add ons/extensions will still work with even the latest update. |

And that is the one big problem with Firefox, every time Mozilla brings out a major version of Firefox, half of the addons don't work.
I have 99% of my add-on working in versions up to 7.0a1

All my add ons are working except for Trusteer Rapport. The toolbar icon for that has disappeared and reinstalling it doesn't bring it back.

Had to add extensions.checkCompatibility.5.0 to the about config to get my addons to work but other than that no problems so far. It's also kept the theme and custom visual settings intact during the upgrade so it looks no different to FF3.

Fyi
Firefox testers should also add:
extensions.checkCompatibility.aurora extensions.checkCompatibility.nightly To firefox's config, both boolean with a value of false. |

Use this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...orter/?src=api
I have 99% of my add-on working in versions up to 7.0a1 ![]() If Google can do it with chrome, then should Mozilla do it with Firefox. I know Chrome uses a different system, which is why some add ons like ghostery is not as good on Chrome as it is on firefox, but people don't look at it that way. |

Have been reading press reports suggesting that although Firefox 5 is more stable and efficient than 4, and there are improvements to the rendering engine, there are not that many new user features, so people could install it and still think they are on FF4. Am currently on FF4 myself, will not bother trying FF5 until it is released.

What a total joke of a numbering system. This should be FF 4.1 surely?
With FF increasingly emulating the looks and behaviour of Chrome, is there actually any point in staying with FF any more? May as well dump it for what is aspires to be and be done. |
