FF5 seems slightly quicker than FF4. Nothing else seems different.

Nah! It was a lot simpler than that when I did it last. I definitely don't want to uninstall and re-install.
In any case, I have no folder 'plugins' in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox. (But oddly enough, I do on my old system disk, which is now drive D: since I got my SSD.)

Just upgraded to FF5 on my openSUSE. First impressions are: you're right. But then it really did need a speed boost as compared to Chrome is was getting left behind. It's probably about the same as Chrome, maybe slightly slower by a teensy tiny margin.
