When I did school back in the dark ages..compulsory subjects were French Latin and Classical Greek for which I am eternally grateful.I also speak Arabic,Swahili,Xhosa,Zulu,Greek,Italian.Spanish and now want to learn Russian...learning languages is really excellent.It is part of the old Empire pomposity that us Brits just expect the entire world to speak English.....and in UK today the standard of English, even on TV is dire.....apart from Stephen Fry,Jermey Paxman and Will Self...and a few others..... and they say "Me and Joe"..I was taught "Joe and I "..never put yourself first ....
Chick lit. kills the language too..and it gets to win the Booker...disgraceful..!!!!!!

The big argument for me, who hates all these americanism, textings-speak is, if everyone's using it, and its in the dictionary, that's our langage now, that's how its developed ..... so put up, I hate it!

There is NOTHING you can say r do to make me apologise for being educated...which seems to me to be such a big social crime in todays GB..which is disgusting...how many Michelles and Jordans do you want...all of the population. Kids are dyslexic from texting...and the Yanks cannot spell English properly..

As it happens I have the eucalyptus oil to hand and will be doing a bit of smearing after my shower. You have brought back memories of sitting on verandahs in the evenings and watching the fireflies in far flung outposts of the British Empire. Thanks for that

The insects are hoverflies, apparently the hot warm weather has caused their favoured food, aphids, to breed like crazy and it's had a knock-on effect. They're completely harmless and actually look quite pretty when you see them like this

Dan taking the p!ss out of the amount of clothes Nadia seems to be able to get in her case. She does seem to have enought for at least 2 cases worth!
