Well, I liked all but one (sorry Sylvester!).

But I'll stick with MY Doctor who was Patrick Troughton.
David Tennant made his mark though!

I've yet to make my mind up about Matty - too much to-ing and fro-ing, dying and coming back to life stuff.....getting a bit tedious if you ask me. Maybe he'll settle down a bit now?

Classic: Jon Pewtee & William Hartnell (can't choose),

New: David Tennant.

You have every right to like David Tennant and to dislike Matt Smith, but I have to disagree with you that the latter acts like a bumbling idiot.

The Eleventh Doctor acts, not like a bumbling idiot, but like an alien, which is exactly what he is, while the Tenth Doctor acts like a human, which is exactly what he isn't.

Have you seen the series 6 trailers? Matt shows how chilling he can be. His range is fantastic.

(Though, of course, you are correct in thinking that DT is the best . )

No he doesn't. Mr Bean is a bumbling idiot. Matt is nowhere near that. JohnnyForget speaks the truth. By that logic, Sylvester McCoy and Tom Baker must act like bumbling idiots as well.

I'm wondering if people like the above poster even:

A) Understand the character of the Doctor.
B) Seen the classic series.

Tom Baker is my favourite, followed by Troughton & Davison.

Sadly, this is what pulled me away from 10 towards the end. Obviously The Doctor knows he isn't Human, so if 10 wanted to be more like a Human, then that was his decision - just didn't work with me.

Fair enough that you like DT more than MS, everyone to their own but I don't think MS is a bumbling Idiot. As has been said already, you could say that about previous Doctors as well. Troughton's Doctor is sort of like that on the surface but as with him, the 11th Doctor's eccentricities are just as much as a cover for his intelligence as was the 2nd's. And he has his serious moments which are very good as well. I like that fact that he is so eccentric, his portrayal sits more comfortably with me that either of his two immediate predecessors and I liked Tennant's portrayal but at times he was just far too emotional. Ms Doctor is more akin to the Classic Doctor's and it really was a shame he was let down by some rotten scripts in Series 5. I hope this gets rectified in the forthcoming Series.

Yes well, given this post you made before you even saw him in the role, I feel it's fair to say you didn't exactly have an open mind really?

fav Drs

1st.11 somehow the current Dr seems to be my fav at the time. still I think Matt is special in the role.
2nd. 5 Peter davison is My Dr i was 15, 16, 17 when he was on and loved the show
3rd. 2 Patrick Troughton did the impossible he made it believeable that the Dr can be a whole new person and yet the same. made the show still believeable in the sixties. if he got it wrong no Dr Who in 2011
4th. 4 Tom baker for such stories as Genisis, Horror at Fang Rock, Brain of Morbius and Talons of Weing Chiang. just pure brilliance.
5th. 10 if only for the best Who catchphrases, Allons-y anyone? and for making me hooked on the show again.

Worst Dr by a country mile 6 just OMG no. though he is my best mates fav. no accounting for taste eh Dave?

Wow. Very immature. It's attitudes like that really get on my nerves. It's just so utterly foolish. Well, it's the posters fault. He/She's missing out on some quality television because of a foolish, needless predjudice against Smith and Moffat.

Shame.

worth checking out their other posts, apparently even Robert De Niro couldn't be as good as David Tenant....think what's clear is that poster isn't a fan of Doctor Who but of David Tennant and they clearly would have resented and hated whom ever had taken over the role. What can you do *shrugs*

Ironically they did watch at least some of the last series though:

I agree, Doctor Who has always been about more than just who The Doctor is. If you can't see past that than as you say, it's a shame and people are missing out on some potentially good stories with other Doctors.

I grew up watching Jon Pertwee and loved him as my Doctor.

The best.

The Saint that is Billy Hartnell, of course.

Closely followed by Lord Tom.

In Human Nature and Family of Blood it worked well, but it was core to the plot.

The characterisation of the tenth Doctor was usually rather bland and Tennant just goofily gurned his way through the series. I am glad to see the back of him and to get, in Matt Smith, a Doctor who is far far more alien, more mysterious and more interesting.

Not that I want to launch a war or anything, but Muttley's right - having read costas69's posts, I don't think s/he has much rational to say.
Unlike my own sublimely fantastic posts, obviously

It's Tom Baker, for me.

I could comment that "He's just so alien" but that's a completely meaningless description fans constantly bandy about when they really mean "eccentric" or something.

I grew up with Pertwee and Tom Baker, so I can't help but love them. I still rate DT highly, I'm still not sure about MS though he seems so much like Troughton (who was brilliant btw) I need to see more of his own ideas and not just a little bit of every other Doctor.

"My" first doctor was Pertwee, although on a trawl through as much Classic Who as I can devour, Troughton is my favourite by a wide margin. Unpredictable, bonkers, and just brilliant.

As for new Who, it has to be Matt - although finding The Doctor very sexy seems just WRONG
